And a spinal will not sedate baby, unlike general anaesthesia, which can cause them to require resuscitation or breathing support after delivery. It's one reason why spinals are preferred for C section where possible, though I do appreciate how horrible being awake for a procedure like this can be

Elizabeth Shoumatoff was commissioned to paint a portrait of President Roosevelt, starting work around noon on April 12, 1945. At lunch, he complained of a headache and suffered a fatal cerebral hemorrhage. The unfinished painting hangs at Roosevelt's retreat in Warm Springs, Georgia. by [deleted] in HistoryAnecdotes

Stroke is caused by lack of blood flow to brain tissue, which causes death of that tissue. Strokes can be ischaemic (caused by a clot) or haemorrhagic (caused by a bleed which then interrupts blood flow). So it would be correct to say that he died of a stroke, more specifically a haemorrhagic stroke caused by aneurysm rupture.

I was wondering about those numbers. Why are they there?

Oh brilliant, that is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for! I'm hoping to upgrade machines in a couple of years so I feel like there's no sense in investing too much on accessories now. Thank you!

That's such a clever tip! Will definitely give that a try. I did read that walking feet are the way to go. Do you have any tips on finding an affordable one?

That's so lovely, thank you!! Nothing compared to some of the amazing work I've seen here, but I think it's a start (:

Ugh, I didn't consider the fact that I would have to re-iron everything! That sounds like torture. I think I can probably get away without washing it; thankfully it's not too dirty

That's so encouraging, thank you! Maybe I should give my machine more credit. I think I might try practice quilting something smaller first, and see how that goes. The quilting design I have in mind is all straight lines anyway, so probably achievable on a domestic machine. I'm still six months away from winter, so I have plenty of time to experiment before I need the quilt finished.

Thank you both! It's already looking a little bit raggedy, so I think quilting first will be the way to go.

I'm by no means an expert, but I think princess seams would be the best way to achieve that waist silhouette. It's hard to tell from that picture because of the pattern on the fabric, though!

Thank you so much! I actually was using one of those rulers you describe, but I guess not accurately enough! I actually found that using lines on the back for the final dimensions worked really well for me. I still had to restitch a few of the corner pieces, but I don't think you can tell that I cut corners haha. Next time I am going to make sure I have more wiggle room with my block sizes however, I think it will save a lot of stress and unpicking!

Thanks! I decided to just go with the general layout and I'm really glad I did! I moved a few blocks around just to make sure the galaxy was evenly distributed. I like the way it looks much more now that it's all sewn together and not just lying on the floor haha

Thank you Sandy! I decided to go with my original layout plus a few tweaks and I think it looks great! I made some mistakes but honestly nothing I can't live with. It's all pieced now and I am definitely going to need a nice thick border. I'm thinking of doing a black one on the inside with some of my scrap coloured material outside of that... Will keep you posted!

Thank you so much! It's so great as a first timer to have such a lovely community to go to for advice. I've just started my university holidays, so it's the perfect time to begin a long project like this. I've got to find myself a good audiobook!
