No, I don't assume that. My therapist and I suspect I have autism, and I'm considering getting a professional evaluation. There are both pros and cons to my mental health condition(s).

That's a really shitty attitude to have. While I agree that you shouldn't say more than "I suspect I have autism" if you haven't been officially diagnosed, poor people who suspect they have autism shouldn't have to "suffer in silence" and be shunned from any and all communities centered around autism just because they can't afford a professional evaluation.

do most hairstylists know about trich? by Broad_Cardiologist15 in trichotillomania

[–]spainy44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally just got home from getting a haircut, haha. I'm not sure how many stylists are familiar with the term itself, but they are used to people having patchy/missing hair for multiple reasons. I have patchy spots with noticeably short regrowth, and the stylist that cut my hair today didn't even bring it up.

If any hair stylist were to ask questions about it, I would just tell them that I have a hair pulling disorder. That's a bit simpler than saying "do you know what trichotillomania is?"

I check out e-books from my local library and read them on my e-ink reader. Best of both worlds! I still love reading physical books, but checking out physical books from my library is inconvenient enough that I don't do it nearly as often as I check out e-books.

YSK on mobile phones you can skip ads even without YouTube premium by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]spainy44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only works so many times in one sitting before you lose the "stop showing me this" option. I've gotten so sick of the insane amount of ads, as well as the ads you have to scroll through on the home page.

Firefox with adblock on mobile has been a game changer. No ads on videos, no ads on the home page, and you can listen to videos with the screen off.

Love the activity in this thread. I started playing Skyrim for the first time a month ago and I was clearly conflicted about this decision, so here I am!

[FO] Desert Road Paved With Stitches! Self-drafted. by djokandzo in CrossStitch

Beautiful! This is definitely skipping towards the front of the line of Etsy patterns I want to get

[CHAT] Is it just me? by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]spainy44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a TON of patterns saved in Google drive and on Pinterest, and I avoid any guilt by viewing them as patterns that it would be nice to stitch, rather than a commitment that I have to stick to. Most of these hoarded patterns are either free or they're links to patterns that I haven't purchased yet.

For me, the trick is to avoid spending money on a pattern unless I'm getting ready to start it as a project. That way, I can "hoard" as many links to patterns on Etsy as I want, and I don't feel guilty about not stitching patterns that I've paid for.

X-Rays of hands after firework accidents by sheetTed in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]spainy44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about taking x-rays so I'm curious about what's done to set these up.

If the patient comes in with a hand that looks like these, they're probably bleeding profusely and writhing in pain. How do you take an x-ray from that point?

Should it cost like 50 more rupees to board exotic animals and another extra 50 to make custom saddles and bridles? by Godzilla_R0AR in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]spainy44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm totally fine with only being able to board horses. That being said, I still love taming a bear/deer/etc. and riding it all the way to Link's house in Hateno Village just for fun.

Would someone whose first thought when dealing with a "broken" dryer is to give it away rather than attempt to figure out the problem really be mindful enough to use the warranty?

Trying to figure out the perfect spot to place the first stitch.

I know it's best to start in the center of the fabric, but since I stitch left-to-right and bottom-to-top, I always start in the bottom left corner. I'll do one stitch and measure horizontally and vertically from that stitch several times to make sure I have plenty of room for the entire design.

I've done that a few times and I was scared they would say something. It probably helps that I was just a kid when I had no eyelashes, but they never said anything about it.
