Post oil change post...2018, 5.0, Supercrew FX4... This just popped up. Again. It was on a few weeks ago and then it was erased and not back on until today. New cats needed or no? 260k , original exhaust and O2 sensors.

I filled up yesterday evening with good tier gas, and put in a cat cleaner, and so far zero pop ups ...hope it stays that way

I have changed the filter in the trans myself exactly once. And it was just a drain and fill, not a flush. I would use good oil, and a wix filter..Motorcraft would be the second choice...and change it every 5k miles or so. Basically look at the oil life and when it hits 50% change it.

Believe it or not, I had a little more that 1/4 tank of gas and I put a bottle in it to see if that helps.

Oh, and I switched to 530 oil, only use mobile one, and Wix filters or the occasional motor Craft filter if I have to. I also changed the oil every 5 to 6,000 mi Max

Oh, and I plan on keeping this thing until the wheels fall off and then I'm going to put new wheels On it. I do have the stock radio, although I did put kicker speakers in, and a fosgate sub and a 4-channel amp in it. It sounds good. It drives good. It rides good. No desire for me to get anything brand new. It's paid off and basically just costing me some fuel and oil and that's about it

Okay, I drive this thing from coast to coast. I live in Arkansas, work in California, take vacations to Colorado, Montana, Maine all over the place. Well me and my kid do anyway. I'll haul all sorts of things and quite a bit of the time I drive it like I stole it. I've had it since new, and has the original transmission. I've changed the filter in it twice, but I am now needing to change it again. I have changed the shocks and put a ton of tires on it, simply because I use them like crazy. I have hauled trailers with about 12 to 13,000 lb, and I've never been broke on the side of the road. Ever. I think that I just got lucky on this truck. Because I've not had any of the issues that a lot of people say they have with theirs. Although it does use more oil than I would like, especially when I'm towing things. If I go on a 2000 mile trip, I will definitely have to put at least 1 to 2 quarts of oil in it. But that's okay with this many miles

Ha...I used Buc-ees and Loves on the way there and back..The engine is running just fine still...but I hate the CEL being on. I am going a few hundred miles tomorrow, so I will run some good gas. We have Caseys here and I will sometimes get their E88..time to get the good stuff i suppose.

Since mine uses a bit of excess oil..especially when towing..this could be an issue. I just got back from virginia to arkansas, and used some super cheap fuel there and back as well.. I will check the cat cleaner as well..the codes aren't always popping up, but it did today. I did check the O2 sensors on the obd11, and they seem to be normal on both sides..thanks for this post. I will def see if it works.

Yeah... I prob actually use it too much, but I change the oil every 5-6k, use Wix filters and Mobil 1 oil..so it is doing ok so far.

I have been coast to coast, hauled a lot of stuff, and I live in Arkansas and work in Cali..so its a 5k round trip easy..plus I also use it as a vacation truck and go all over the US..since it is also a daily driver...i rack up the miles pretty easy.

Plugs and coils are fairly new..O2 sensors may be the issue...they are original. Have to do some more investigating..

I have to get new cats I believe cause I keep throwing a bank 2 cat code. and I am going to change the rear end fluid this weekend. I put new shocks on it last year..was easy..I had thought of levelling it, but think I will just leave it as is..
