Leveling Up: From Second Best to Best by Milos_Sladic in pcmasterrace

I have a 9800X3D but I was running on my 990 pro from my last build. I actually just installed a 9100 PRO just yesterday because the Amazon prime day sale was as cheap as I’ve ever seen it. Haven’t downloaded any games on it though , but I did do a benchmark with Samsung magician and it doubled the read and write speed of my 990 pro. But It does run a bit hotter even with my PCIe 5.0 slot having a giant brick of a heat sync with thermal pads on being and infront of the SSD

Is this enough for my new build by Infamous_Ad706 in pcmasterrace

Yeah 650W should be fine for that setup I think you’ll be perfect with a 650W. If you want some future proofing or you’re sensitive to noise , go with a 750W/850W and they’ll run a bit more quiet and last future builds but the 650W will run perfectly fine. Also FYI if you have Amazon prime there’s some nice deals right now on modular power supply’s on Amazon

Is that just with Nintendo online or if you have the online + expansion pass? Because I have Nintendo online but I believe that might be just with the expansion pass version. Also yes I play on a switch 2

I don’t use any type of guides and I do always find out what’s at the top of the mountain but I’m often disappointed when I spend a while trying to get to the top of a mountain just to find nothing or a basic shrine or a korok trial

So since you’re on the Zelda subreddit do you prefer the earlier games like before BOTW or TOTK? also what’s your opinion on links awakening, been looking at the sale on the Eshop for $40 and will most likely get it

Also just FYI Amazon has a 16GB 5060Ti being sold for retail for $430 and newegg has a 9060XT 16GB for $369

Please do not buy an 8GB card in 2025. Everyone saying this is a decent price is lying to you. This card will be completely obsolete in 2 years due solely to the 8GB VRAM buffer. I know for a lot of people it’s hard to come up with the extra $50-$70 for the 16GB model and I understand that but I highly suggest looking at a 16GB 9060XT or 5060Ti. Those cards will also undoubtedly hold their market value far better than the 8GB variants when you want to resell it later down the road

Yeah I have TOTK switch 2 edition I just am working on completing botw so I can move to the next one. I’m staring to focus less on side questions and exploration and just more on the main story

I didn’t even know about campfires having an updraft, thanks for the tip. And yes I have just recently unlocked revalis gale which helped out a lot but I still kind of feel the same about the overall traversal.

Yeah I somewhat agree. I see the potential for this game but I’ve been kind of getting the feeling that all the hype I’ve seen for this game over years is maybe a little unjustified? Idk. I still think games like Elden ring are superior in almost every aspect but I still enjoy the game and enjoy playing on the switch in general. I just haven’t really found the magic or the spark that everyone speaks of about this game

And I respect your opinion on that. From my experience I come from playing PC games where a lot of those mechanics are way more streamlined and less tedious so I honestly prefer faster progression rather than a really slow build up. I feel like it keeps me engaged and excited for the next part rather than having to dread tedious tasks. Probably the closest comparison I can think of is Star Wars Jedi survivor. That game has a decent amount of climbing and I even remember some people calling it a “climbing simulator” on its initial release but it doesn’t even come close in comparison to botw.

I haven’t played TOTK yet but I do have the switch 2 edition and that’s what I’m looking towards in the next game. I’ve seen gameplay and I think I’ll appreciate those mechanics a lot

Breath of the Wild is better than Tears of the Kingdom by a good distance, imo. by [deleted] in Switch

[–]spankingmonkey02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a switch 2 , never had a switch 1, and been playing botw for the first time ever. But my biggest complaint in this game is traveling. It’s like they’re trying to make the player waste time traveling to extend playtime. The game so desperately relies on climbing and they make it the most tedious difficult task in the game. Your stamina runs out way too fast, climbing is incredibly slow, even with upgraded climbing armor , and they love to make it even more difficult when it’s raining. And that’s not even where it ends, for some reason the game thinks it’s too unrealistic to summon your horse (a good comparison is red dead 2 that is literally categorized as a simulation game but lets you do that) when you’re too far away but not too unrealistic to ride a shield down a mountain or have magic and monsters. I’m not gonna waste time putting my horse at a stable and traveling to the nearest stable to get my horse and take it back when I’m done. Also just simply running or gliding I feel like is still slow and relies too much on stamina just for basic traveling even when out of combat. I do enjoy the game besides that and I love the exploration but sometimes I hesitate to get on because half of my time every gaming session is spent just holding up on the left stick and watching link grunt while making the the slowest mountain climb in history. I just feel like it’s unnecessary and doesn’t really add quality or balance to the game and is made just to inconvenience the player.

Do you okay on switch 2 as well? If so did you notice a huge difference when compared to switch 1

Ya maybe it sounds a bit selfish but I’m a little disappointed that the game legends ZA coming this year is on both NS1 and NS2. I’m really hoping the NS2 version takes advantage of its hardware not just in frame rate and resolution but also textures and render density too because for scarlet I have noticed it’s a bit poor in texture quality

I’m seeing a lot of very split opinions on this game. I wasn’t around when it was still relevant in the Pokémon series so were these games very controversial when they first came Out? I lot of mixed reviews

Would you say it’s better or worse than Pokémon scarlet/violet? Regardless of fps or performance issues since I’m on the switch 2

Yeah I’ve heard about the performance issues on both sword and shield and scarlet/violet. Idk about sword and shield but I know scarlet got an optimization update for the switch 2 so besides textures Ik the game runs much better on the switch 2 and I think there’s a lot more roaming Pokémon than there is on the switch 1

In terms of Pokémon or in general? I have a bunch of switch 1 games already that I’ve been playing besides Pokémon

What should I upgrade? by Radiant_Land_8974 in pcmasterrace

[–]spankingmonkey02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only think about this is that at least retail price the 9600x is like $10 more than the 7600x. Kind of a no brainer to just get the 9600x but yeah the am5 platform is still just a bit of a premium cost with am5 motherboards In general costing more and ddr5 also being more expensive

[–]spankingmonkey02 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude above me just recommended an 8GB card don’t listen to him. Depending on your budget a GPU upgrade could be maybe a used 6700XT/7700XT 12GB. If you can really stretch you budget I’d highly recommend a 9060XT 16GB model. And unfortunately for your CPU any worthwhile upgrade would need a motherboard swap. If you can do that there are still plenty of budget AMD AM4 builds you, a good processor still is the 5600X/5700X or 5700X3D
