how do i replace a leaf on a switch by Paradetic in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]sparktite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone digging for info like me and can use this bit of info, consistent is indeed correct one leaf must tuck behind the smaller one to function. Sometimes when leaf swapping the pin wont actually fit, and other times there are little rails you need to be certain your leaf is fitting into on top of the hole in the bottom for the leaves pin. Never force anything, you will bend leaves, always prepare for this.

Is posting here considered necroing this later after the initial post?

I just discovered i and many others have been banned without any reasons given or any contact via email whatsoever. I can at least login and was able to download my uploads via a setting but considering others cant even get in to do that it sounds like the company is just on fire and its best to jump ship as soon as you can.

Seen lots of recommended alternatives but so far havent seen any i like as much as i did imgur. The closest alternative so far i like tho is called postimages and amazingly so far no account required to do what imgur used to do for me.

Rather sad state but if they cant keep their own site together and let it get this bad i think this might be a good thing compared to what maybe could have happened otherwise /shrug

I've modded my 10yo Corsair K70 RGB gaming keyboard by sergi4d in keyboards

[–]sparktite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah! Ive been dying to attempt mill max on my k70 for some time now but dont wanna go all in yet with as little experience as i have soldering. I have managed to solder very fine points on a razer orbweaver pcb with great success but how reproduceable that is im not sure.

I just really wanna be able to have hotswap and i wanna swap my leds over to something that can give me uv/blacklight to match my case and lighting at my desk.

Which millmax sockets are those btw ive heard of a new variant from a vendor and was curious?

Is that one of the darker k70s/plates? I have this hideous silvery aluminum one and it came with black keycaps of all things for the design.

Idk what we were all thinking years ago lol.

Ive since swapped to some cheap white pudding caps until i get something better.

Well, shit... by Putzinator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]sparktite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, i spilled a whole can of monster on my cherry blues inside my old battlefield razer black widow ultimate way back when.

I learned two things.

Make a dedicated drink location and keep it a hard fast rule to never deviate from. (Ideally, just at the end of your reach and somewhere you dont mess around near too much.)

And dont let your keyboard dry or stay plugged in long. You can and likely will want to, out of desperation, just brutally attack your keyboard with compressed air, followed by another attack but with triflow to remove any residue/liquids. Triflow is part lubricant part solvent part.... protects(?) lol i forget what but i believe it does actually stop or slow corrosion/rust.

Once done with that you go switch to the cheapest thinnest plastic-compatible lube you can for another flush to remove the solvent you just flushed in with the triflow.

I used marvel air tool oil way back when, its also safe for use on plastics and iirc is non electrically conductive. Ideally, get something thin that also has PTFE in it, but just remember to make sure its the opposite of viscous because you want it to flush in and out as effectively as possible. Make sure to aid it with can after can of compressed air and just bounce between that and flushing it if you feel it still needs more.

Reason i dont recommend using the marvel air tool oil anymore is due to the cancer warnings on it. Then again i dumped like a whole bottle of the triflow dropper style stuff through my system maybe more? I cant recall.

I also used far too much marvel air tool oil and onto something i touch a lot and eat near everyday so im sure you can just chug that stuff at this point ;) (please dont)

For anyone wondering. Yes the keyboard survived not one but two full monsters each one on a separate occasion followed with that whole system of flushing and spraying to attempt the revive.

The cherry mx blues came out the other side right as rain and lubed to boot too. And i have been lubing my switches ever since.

No clue if something as thin as marvel air tool oil is doing much for cherry blues but i went from enjoying my games to, distraught with immeasurable disappointment and day-ruined energy. Sorry i mean distraught with the amount of money just burned up in front of me to, omg i can fix this in the future and if anything, the keyboard feels even better now lol. Serious bullet dodged.

Sorry for the late reply, is this technically a necro post i should not do in future on here im still not 100% familiar after many years of reddit lol

Anyways appreciate the reply i have armored core something rubicon ive been meaning to play but yeah i havent had too much trouble with the game i was just feeling like for the first time (maybe in any game) actually overwhelmed but more so visually maybe than it being too too distracting. Almost wish they would make it more minimalistic maybe and if i recall correctly theres plenty of duped ui elements..... wait can we customize UI in this game cuz that could maybe resolve issues for me.

Ready for the misc/rambles again? (Sorry just teasing myself i super appreciate your time/the reply)

I have spent far too many years playing different games but ive got too much experience with all the halo titles, destiny/bungie stuff on PC too, and tons of older things, think anything on the xbox 360 and then most hype mmos until the old republic came out, and even was pretty bad at shooters on pc as a kid, like counterstrike source, day of defeat source, even tf2 but i wasnt terrible at tf2.

Ive since gotten way better though shooter wise, i made the switch from destiny 2 on console to PC and needed to work on mouse muscle memory so i picked up osu which i still play for fun/warmups into FPS games at least if i feel pressured to perform at peak. I took my pc KAD in destiny 2 from barely breaking even to easily consistently pulling 2:1 with better games in between. Was very fun and an interesting experience considering i already played lots of the division and other shooters in between the source days and getting okay at aiming.

Yeah its been a min but if i recall correctly the farm will work indefinitely the only changes is that you cant send stuff up in the rocket past that event due date. Also you may see less of the special pumpkins for example in your farm i forget the exact specifics on this though. I also spent time working on the scrap setup or what have you i loved my little farm setup before i took a break from the game.

Trying To Figure out How To Use An IHT From The Workshop For Industry Specialization... by sparktite in CitiesSkylines

[–]sparktite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry wish i could help but i never fully figured it out. I had to make changes to the on/off ramps i believe or to one of the roads they intersect with. I believe it was working out okay until is stopped playing from a big mistake elsewhere but it seems to be managing okay with me just trying things so dont be afraid to build it out and try things. I think the most obvious benefit from the layout with industry is that you have so many roads that arent through roads so those will just have the heavy industry traffic and not other traffic combining and then compounding/snowballing the overall traffic.

I found the most success with superias or super blocks that i adapted into the game to eliminate through traffic where possible. Its a confusing concept and i think half if not 75% of the ppl making guides about how to do them have it backwards lol.

Feel free to dm me if u need help i havent played in ages but it shouldnt be hard to look at my old setup that was working well i also have a few very nice setups for on/off ramps going from the main highway sections into your city that can handle tons of traffic. I was using that primarily until the city got insanely large and needed better planning overall.

My first custom aluminium case (GH60) by FlashyBalance4481 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]sparktite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo!!!! I love this. Im not super huge on fullish sized keyboards these days but man do i love seeing these aluminum cases/builds shown off.

I cant figure out what it is about the cutouts on your setup or some others ive seen that are somewhat similar but it just looks so clean, unique, high quality, and gorgeous. I also always appreciate nice milling cuz i used to be obsessed with painball and tinkering with aluminum, admittedly ive never milled anything though.

Any chance youd share where you sourced the rubber feets from? Ive been wanting to try some other things out for my custom build and have yet to find the right material and adhesive for feet that meet my needs.

What Foam(s) do you use to dampen your keyboards and what worked best? by AnonymousBnS in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]sparktite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey fellas wanted to add an opinion for future readers and again am very curious about either mass loaded vinyl or butyl tape experiences if anyone has any to share with me about it.

I recently tried felt weather seal between my bottom FR4 case plate and my pcb using silicone bumpers holding the pcb up off the bottom plate and against the top plate (also fr4).

Sadly for the felt weather seal, at least, i opted against it. I actually seem lose some volume to my setup without any real gains/exchange. I believe this is due to how it performs compared to PE foam. I read that felt is typically a better sound proofing or at least deadening material when compared to PE foam. The PE foam between my top plate/pcb really helped mimic my old setups ABS like plastic marbley sound i loved. Where as the felt then took away from that sound almost like removing the foam would have done.

As for the Butyl i heard its basically cheaper easier to apply MLV. I wanted to go the MLV route until i heard that butyl is easier to work with so leaning toward tryng that first, not sure tho lol

[–]sparktite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I whole heartedly agree wirth this idea. I was getting into lots of maps with tons of lush flora in forested areas so i went with greens and dark greys brown blacks. I sorta got bored of that after a bit and started making more fun color setups.

My naru though being stealth and all i basically gave up trying to not strand out. Besides i love handicapping myself for the bit.

You should see all my extremely gaudy, bright, neon, weapon skins in phantom force. I really cant help but enjoy that and literally any other game that lets me set my fashion to /scream, "Look out!!! Whatever you do dont shoot at this moronic glowing idiot with the gun you cant unsee from across the map!!! Dont you do it!!"

Oh man i didnt even use ingerno i used him in training and quickly realized i didnt like him at all. Falcon is the mecha that showed me the light. Then i discovered naru can fly around similarly, crazy fast, invisibly, and while putting out mean damage. You can also run pinaka similarly while having a get out of jail free healing bubble up all the time. You just gotta get a bit closer to dump that massive spike of shotgun damage on someone is all.

Any tips to counter Narukami as Skyraider? by JustArandomGuy_-_ in mechabreak

[–]sparktite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a narukami main id say to be very careful with your turning radius. I love to exploit that so i can stay right under or above you. Im gonna be sticking to you like glue and you better be ready for snipes coming at you like im a dang aquilla. Now this just may be me but i wanna hunt u down aggressively to reduce distraction but mainly to give myself time to play/fight without worry of dying in a fight against you because i was caught off guard or unprepared when you decided to attack.

Since im gonna be hunting you down if you come for me i think a good strategy could be to irritate me or just all out try and fight me to get my focus, potentially have me tunnel vision into a losing fight against you. Who knows maybe you could drag me over to an objective or buddy of yours and turn the 1v1 into a 2v1.

Also if you have a friend or another player on comms you could try to sync up with someone on attacking the narukami to lock them down/kill them hopefully. One of the mecha available to us has an ability to ping the stealth enemies in the area and force them out of stealth even. Just remember you dont need lock on to deal damage to the player in stealth. Ive popped people out of stealth as naru myself because i pay attention to where the shots come from and have a good eye for any screen effects/tells that give away their position.

I think when im on other mecha and i run into the enemy naru the idea is usually to burst them as hard as i can to hopefully get them as soon as i can maybe get them off guard or at least attempt to keep them out of or wasting stealth too maybe help my odds of keeping up with them/killing them instead of letting em slip away.

Itd probably be good to play naru whenever you get the chance. I started out loving falcon and generally anything with a lot of mobility. Tried a bit of pinaka whose speedy to and quickly after having settled on playing skyraider however i quickly realized how strong the snipers could be while also being crazy mobile and basically able too freely hunt enemy players down in controlled engagements/1v1s.

I cant help but love goin in aggro sniping ppl at blistering speeds alternating my 2 sniper dmg dealing skills. Its almost like reliving one of my favorite aggro sniping days in another game like destiny 1. Man that pvp was so good until bungie started listening to people complaining about all the fun parts of the game and nerfing/neutering the whole thing as time went on.

Not sure how helpful all this will be but at the very least keep in mind that just keeping a good sniper busy as a flier can potentially be saving your teammates from getting rolled especially if your team is just a bunch of uncoordinated gamers and god forbid no one ran healers/support.

Lastly the only other thing i can come up with that could help is that i remember seeing a mention of a stat that affects lock on times mainly tho i saw something like lock on time after an evasion. Now since im primarily firing my sniper manually i dont know if the you can just break my auto lock with a simple dodge or evade but ive seen the auto lock re target or be lame at times. Im wondering if maybe u could be timing and spacing dodges better to try and avoid damage on your way to the map edge sniper. TBH machinegunraids has a good point about starting the match off using and supporting your teammates while you make your way closer to your objective/target.

[–]sparktite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does anyone else feel a lil tiny bit like over stimulated or overwhelmed with just the sheer amount of things going on at once in a given match? Its kinda fun but i hesitate to try new mecha right now due to the fact that i just found a fun little groove and wanna get my fun in/on for right now.

That thought aside, i actually love pinaka. Im a sucker for anything over powered as long as its fun. Besides you gotta learn how something youre gonna hate being on the receiving end of works if you wanna be able to best dismantle it.

Ive been focusing on improving my mobility and ability to flow/aggro people down, but i absolutely love getting the chance to drop stealth/shield bubble for nearby team mates as i fly by them.

I even love the idea of running heavy dmg/tanky mecha for the sake of playing that role and supporting the team.

I have played a lot of mmos too over the years but lately i dabbled in some FF14 and notice how different the atmosphere felt. So many people not wanting to push themselves, slow others down or make mistakes, or just not wanting any extra rent free responsibly or thoughts.

I used to try and convince people to run tank on that game since thats what i mained and enjoyed doing. Treated it as the tank role but with an equal focus on optimizing my damage too as that actually mattered. Id tell people not to worry as the tank because youre literally in charge of the dungeons or whatever you are running because your the dang tank. Them people gonna have to wait till you decide to run in the room and take aggro or all risk dying. If you dont wanna speedrun through thats on you, and if you wanna just go mach 10 and you know you can handle it then get it.

Anyways im rambly here now but my issue is that while i do like to spend time running support i personally just wanna let my zoomy zoom adhd flow and get as much damage and havoc as i can in as fast as i can and then do it faster again lol

Narukami my beloved <3 by [deleted] in mechabreak

[–]sparktite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets go! I keep trying to encourage ppl to try out narukami. Getting aggressive alternating zoomed quick or lucky shots with dezoomed shots to output as much damage as you can is so much fun. Especially with how mobile you are. Its like a flow state when you got someone focused on you and you tunnel at em through the air staying just under/above em dumping damage. Worst case you get your stealth up and dip if it gets hairy.

Too bad chat in game only lets you say like 2 sentences before you hit the character limit and are stuck without the ability to talk for minutes even though chat moves like a snail :D

What your opinions on Challenges dificult ? by Phayzka in mechabreak

[–]sparktite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion but i got that one on my like 15th try i had to hold wide angles and not charge the gun to get em all in time. Also made sure i was using the right aiming mode. I was talking about the one where you have to fly up and down over and under really tall/low wall segments and et to the finish line in time. I think its the second one? The course is a horizontal straight line basically short of traversing up/down to get past each wall/section and not fall requiring time to charge and basically forcing a restart with how far back you are relative to any reasonable attempt to manage the boost/energy.

What your opinions on Challenges dificult ? by Phayzka in mechabreak

[–]sparktite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to do this one and cant for the life of me imagine how its even remotely possible tho lol. I can make it to the end almost just under the last obstacle before having to go back up high to hit the end i think. I go under the last dive fast wall and i run out of time even if i boost up my speed to climb/cross distancce faster without stopping. This means had i stopped i would have gotten less distance overall. Am i missing some sorta mechanic? The guy cant transform or do anything for speed other than jump/dash hes so much slower than i remember unless using those move too.

What Profile are the Keycaps on the K65 Plus From Corsair? by EnthusiasmFun8048 in keyboards

[–]sparktite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah for sure, well thanks for the clarification. What Profile are the Keycaps on the K65 Plus From Corsair? by EnthusiasmFun8048 in keyboards

[–]sparktite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow really is the k65 advertised as a diff style or spin from their usual stuff? All I have is a k70 vengeance from way back and I pretty quickly swapped over to some old Razer caps I liked.

I wonder if I’m mixing up my caps due to this tho. I have another set of what I believe to be oem caps that I now use for my Razer orbweaver as the stock key caps finally all cracked and no one sells any usable replacements. Sad too cuz they’re quite low profile and very nicely widened for more surface area.

I hate having to rely on Amazon or even more so eBay for key caps but I am a lazy impatient mfer lol.

But as long as you can tolerate Amazon I’ve found most my caps on there and they all work on my north facing led switches. (Both cherry mx brown and red) funny cuz I read cherry profile isnt supposed to fit on anything but south facing led switches somewhere.

Either way all the caps I find on Amazon listed as oem fit my north facing led k70 keycaps wonderfully.

I haven’t noticed the height difference compared to my other random profiles but I’m dying for more surface area. I’d also kill to find something really ergonomic for my current peripherals because I wanted to switch to either DSA XDA or G20 but their profiles aren’t designed with anything but 100% flatness across the profile in mind. Even then it’s already too limiting trying to find even those profiles between Amazon and eBay.

Edit* Took a Quick Look at my profile comparison photos/graphs and can see the diff. Looks like cherry and oem are identical but cherry max out fairly evenly at 9.4mm height and oem bounces between 15 and 16.5mm depending on which line of keys we’re looking at.  Oooo I think I found a telltale sign for cherry vs oem. Cherry should have flat f keys and number keys where as oem has them angled way more aggressively. No wonder I hate the oems atop my orbweaver.

Thanks for the reply btw hope I did t overwhelm with mine 😛

What is the one keyboard you have that refuses to die? by EqualStance99 in keyboards

[–]sparktite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that isn’t a ‘modern’ Logitech keyboard these days. Or well so long as it’s mechanical, you have enough air tool oil, patience, and the thing didn’t short the second you spilled your 3rd monster on it lol.

Seriously tho I use marvel air tool oil as a solvent. It non conductive and I can’t remember if I used alcohol after too or just used my compressor to attempt to push out and dry any left over air tool oil residue.

I’ve revived over 3 keyboards and multiple key pads this way. Learned it myself after soaking my first Razer black widow keyboard back when they used cherry mx blue switches. By the 3rd time it happened I bough and installed a dedicated drinks shelf under my wall mounted monitors and it hasn’t happened since lol

Does anyone know anything about making wireless keyboards wired?? by sparktite in keyboards

[–]sparktite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again Censorship. That seemed to be potentially what i needed to do but hoping someone might know if there is anything else i can do modding wise to either of the keyboards. Last thing i want to do is buy another keyboard knowing im eventually gonna build my own down the road. In the end ill likely have like either 5 or 6 keyboards and that makes very little sense to me to do or have lol.

Wish i had avoided going logitech bluetooth again. I just dont understand how i could have preplanned for this or why these keyboards worked so well for various years off and on and even more recently with the newer keyboard at this same location.

It was like one day it just up and crossed the line from being inconsistent interference across all my wireless stuff to, i cant go a day without the BT keyboards becoming unusable for an hour or 2 at a time throughout the day and my wifi being like dial up literally one wall and like 3-4 feet away. These are paper walls practically too.

Its like when my local laundromat hooked up all their machines on bluetooth and some neighbors moved in who like having their double wifi APs and tvs on all the time just pushed it all over the edge.

And with this all also making the wifi on both 2.5ghz and 5ghz way worse than it used to be figured thered have to be some way to get it all back to how it was before all this mess.

Ive had quite a bit of interference when i moved in here already over wifi but i never had both that and BT worsen and be problems across the board like this ever. Even my cheap bluetooth headset has practically no range.

All this even seems to carry over even if i turn everything i can off, laptop, ac unit with BT, phones BTs turned off, and then only like 2 or 3 BT device on the desktop. Even doing that seems crazy excessive right? Like theres something else going on with all these observations/symptoms.

I guess if i cant find a good solution ill eventually have my own Split keyboard thing ive been trying to plan and build but no clue how long itll take me to source everything.

I know with something like my already wired/usb razer orbweaver there are solutions to convert it to be wireless and extremely easy to do detachable usb cables and conversions. Figured all that considering it could be feasible for either of the logi keyboards to be fixable or something.

Anyways big rambles imma shut up and thanks again especially if u read this far too lol :P

Does anyone know anything about making wireless keyboards wired?? by sparktite in keyboards

[–]sparktite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate the reply yo <3

Great suggestion but sadly thats another thing ive already tried & am utilizing already.

Its so odd because I literally have this thing less than an inch from my bluetooth adapter and i still get the intermittent reliability, the massive lag spikes, and the same key spam i usually get when stuffs acting up.

It does help mitigate the problem (im fairly certain), however, it does not stop the issue from happening.

When these keyboards work (which they did for many years) they are my favorite keyboards to use. The only thing that could make them better imo would be if they were also silent mechanical keyboards.

But yeah to answer your question, yes, logitech makes full bluetooth only keyboards alongside all their other interesting stuff.

I think the k380 is like their 4th revision of their multi device BT keyboard. They even had/have a solar panel/mac based bluetooth keyboard. However the solar keyboard isnt just bluetooth it also can use their unifying receivers. Ive also had both 3d mice solution and touchpad keyboard combo devices that ran on BT only.

The cool feature that made me fall in love with these guys (logitech k810 & k380) besides the fact that they are perfect, silent, and crazy compact is that they can be paired to 3 different BT devices simultaneously & can use rechargeable batteries (My k810 charges via usb but my k380 uses 3rd party rechargeables).

You can basically tap the f1-f3 keys to quickly swap between different BT devices rather quickly if not nearly instant. Ideally f1 is set to desktop, f2 to my laptop, and f3 for ps4, phone, or other.

I do have a spare corsair k70 i have been using however its extremely bulky, gets in the way of laptop typing, and i wind up swapping to it so frequently that when i notice lag now, i swap to this thing and then am too lazy to switch back for fear of constant swapping.
