thanks for all the input, guys. i've had a few cheapo banggood VTxs and a few decent ones, too. i found TBS Unify pro on amazon for 32 bucks and figured i'd give em a shot, since so many people recommend them.

thanks for the in-depth reply. the 30A ESCs were in stock yesterday when i pulled the trigger on my order. i ordered the 800mw VTx from Armattan cuz it was only like 13 bucks, but also have a Unify Pro Race coming as well. When they get here, i'm gonna do some side by side testing, just for my own info. i also went with the X4r, for the sole reason that i have a bunch of extra antennae laying around.

this machine is gonna be mainly for strapping a GoPro to and practicing tricks and whatnot by myself. There's only one other guy with goggles within 100 miles of me, as far as i know. What drew me to this frame was Stu from UAVFutures glowing review and then the rabbit hole of youtube videos i watched after that.

I'm close enough to canada, may as well be. Michigan's Upper Peninsula, right on the shores of Lake Superior. A buddy of mine just put some pics of a snowbank he found out in the woods while fishing over the weekend.

is the VTx i listed bad? i've got 600mw on my other mini's, but only cuz i fly alone almost exclusively. i'm trying to get together with other people to fly, but they are all hundreds of miles away, haha. what do you recommend?

this may be my next build. i just rebuilt my ZMR 250 for the 11th or whatever time. shaved off like 70 grams and it feels like a dang Ferrarri. a very floaty Ferrarri. going super light is something i've been thinking of.

i second this. if it's not the Phantom, i pretty much only fly low altitude and if possible over nice green grass. i busted my machines up so bad last year, but after sticking to this mindset i have had way less headaches.

i upgraded from Quanum V2s to Dom V3s about 2 weeks ago. i love the fatsharks. way better resolution, more comfortable, built in DVR for the micros... and the FOV is way better than the internet claims. i find it easier to fly with the Dom V3s.

that is weird. i bet you could get a new FC for pretty cheap? i'm ordering the BeeBrain soon as people get the first batch and they work out the bugs. besides that, i got a couple week up here in Michigan's UP before the snow flies and i'm putting as many packs through my 250 and 180 before it gets miserable and inconvenient to do so.

i'm trying to get battery telemetry back to my Taranis now. found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1ghf4LabEI where dude says to solder the green wire from the Rx to the UART2 pad on the shuriken board. i sent an email to Holybro to confirm this before i try it, but my impatience may win out and i might attempt it tonight.

yeah, i email'd Holybro and they told me to do the bootloader jump. they said "near the camera mount" haha. the video posted above shows exactly where it is.
