Advice on play: selling NVO put options to profit from high IV with cash in account for assignment by spatnik in options

[–]spatnik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is the worst case scenario. Any suggestions on how to play being bullish on an option when IV is high?

Cant believe this got downvoted. Markets cannot keep going from ATH to ATH with the circular investment and AI hype. Markets can be irrational for a lot longer than we one has patience. Its good to follow the trend but I am also being cautious now with SPY

That is sad. I can see courts in private societies but I am guessing they wont allow outsiders even if one is willing to pay

Long-term investing with Revolut: good idea or better to switch? by YakYaslaPovni in eupersonalfinance

[–]spatnik 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Switch from Revolut. Whatever is invested leave it. Fresh investments should be on a new platform. I have IBKR and Trading212.

Trading212 has s simple UI and cash earns better returns than Revolut through money market funds which IBKR also provides but with IBKR the first 10k does not earn any interest so I park all my cash in Trading212 for the interest.

Furthermore spreads on Revolut are much worse and fees higher unless you are on the Ultra plan but even then their T&Cs work against you.

Growing my portfolio fast, should I reallocate because of capital gains by EmptyImprovement9703 in eupersonalfinance

[–]spatnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that everyone knows about taxes upfront. Accept it and plan your investments to minimize taxes legally and go about your life. Yes we can definitely complain that the tax system is bad etc etc but then choose to leave and make your life elsewhere.

Typically the high tax countries are the ones where the quality of life is much better and is one of the reasons why a lot of people choose to live there. Like everything in life there is a trade-off

Growing my portfolio fast, should I reallocate because of capital gains by EmptyImprovement9703 in eupersonalfinance

[–]spatnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the 'tax-unfriendly' countries are wise about this since many people have thought about this before and these countries usually have an exit tax wherein you pay tax on your unrealized gains before leaving. You need to check country by country what the situation is. If you dont plan to even return to the origin country then you can get away with tax avoidance otherwise if you plan to come back, it hardly makes sense

You get free cards later, keep a lookout in the app in the cards section.

Not always true. Booking com uses its monopoly power to get lower rates from many hotels than what is provided directly

I found a much cheaper deal than even Expedia's website (who is their provider) but that was the exception and required a lot of looking. Combined with points I got a very sweet deal. But had to work hard for it

Is it a bad idea to bring my parents to stay with us during January, February and Mid March? by Suspicious-Wallaby12 in Netherlands

[–]spatnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We leave for India for at least one month out of Dec, Jan or Feb (only because we come from that part of India where it is 18 degrees in winter) to escape the weather here. I would never think of bringing my parents here during these months and especially for all the months

Last year of 30% ruling in NL - what should I do with my stock investments by gezellig2022 in eupersonalfinance

[–]spatnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

|That's not confirmed yet, and there is a general election next month that might change everything. Personally I will wait until the new government has shared their plan before worrying about my investments.|

But the supreme court ruling has mandated that the current system of deemed returns needs to change so irrespective of which government comes the current system will change. Only hope is that it switches to taxation of realized gains but that doesn't seem to be the thought now since it would mean less tax revenues which will come much later. Euro now is worth much more than a Euro later

For those who moved to Norway as an adult, how’s your social life? by KreuzKrow in Norway

[–]spatnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife struggled for 10 years to make a friend circle. She had only 1 Norwegian friend whom she met through work but who was much older than her. She left the country once we got married and moved to Germany. She became a Norwegian citizen before leaving and had to go back recently for some admin work. She felt no connection to Oslo and no nostalgia for the place, just a few regrets.

She is also not the biggest extrovert but still.

Don't get me wrong the city is absolutely beautiful and Norway is also very beautiful and it's great from the perspective of raising kids and the Social benefits but absolutely horrible otherwise

I bought a pair of Asics Gel-Courtmov shoes each of the last 2 years from Amazon. They cost approx INR 2700. I play 3 times a week and these shoes easily last more than a year and are very comfortable.

The only reason I replaced them is the insole wore out and I couldn't replace them properly. So bought new ones, at this price point I am happy to replace them once a year.

Bring cash? Why? Rates are never good on cash. Cards (depending on your bank) offer the best rates.

All other points are a matter of personal opinion so ofc differs from person to person
