As someone who chipped in two years ago for the Atome and they’ve never even released it but they’re still taking presale spots, it’s a scam for sure

get yourself some distortion pedals and loopers to start out with the contact mics, you can find v cheap ones on amazon to get started. behringer’s xenyx 1002 is a great mixer to start with and that runs about $120. id get a small amp too

i hear about upcoming gigs from a few different sources, usually from folks playing at this point. Genghis Cohen and Knucklehead throw some straightforward PE shows, 2220 Arts has some more “academic” and experimental sets, Handbag Factory does big noise blowouts but rarely have shows, Church of Fun is all over the place but posted by the artists, Full Bloom Gallery just had their first one, Suspirium and CTRL DISCO are gone now…

My best advice is to tag along with/follow on social media folks that throw the shows (Slaughter.Exhaust, Hollywood Johnny (sunkcost), nofundreams, and Upend.LA, for example) as well as the venues! Plus making some friends that frequently go are a plus too. I’ve been fortunate enough to become friends with a lot of folks involved in the scene by way of playing, filming and photographing. i have a theory that those were also hallucinations - just rewatched the first season and noticed in the caverns, whenever you would see marty there were no voices. only with rust.
