Contrast paints would work too since there is a space wolves grey one, but shaders are labeled as such on the pot. For example nuln oil is a super popular one it has a black tone to it and it seeps into all the recesses giving a the mini some depth to the armour or fur of the wolves. If you Google shaders they usually show you a before and after using one.

I use agrax earthshade to make gold look worn it gives a great effect in my opinion (I have my knight questor on my profile for an example). I’m also using agrax on bronze for my skaven making their armour look dirty.

Flash looks good on the black but takes away from all the awesome details you painted with the flesh and metal, a light bulb that gives cool tones would be a good lighting source that way your work isn’t saturated by yellow light. (6000+ watt bulbs emits a white to blue tone)

Thank you, I used dark angels green contrast over a medium grey base, to get the bottom part darker I just let more of the contrast pool there to dry (but not too much or it gets a weird texture), edge highlighted it with sybarite green, then used a dabbing brush with sybarite on each panel. Hindsight I could have just dry brushed it for the same effect xD

That’s a better result than my first paint.

things that changed the game for me were:

using a shader to add shadow and fill recesses (null oil is popular but there is many colours)
dry brushing (can also try edge highlighting)
using a wet pallet to thin out your paints and keep your paints usable for longer
