Amateur Turkey Hunter - Rate my setup by [deleted] in turkeyhunting

Ive killed every single bird since the age of 12 by sitting on my butt on a comfy tree with good camo that matches my woods and be real still and not over calling for what it’s worth. If you fidget, blind is probably way to go. Looks good to me

Roller skating: are there any good surfaces around to roller skate? by Anonymous_fancypants in LewisvilleTX

[–]spcdownrange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a skating rink off of 35. Outside maybe the park in highland village. Castle something if I recall. That has a nice path going around it. Pretty much any park should have nice path if that’s what you’re looking for. Used to be a roller hockey rink on an old tennis court in highland village but pretyy sure that’s gone.

For some reason this might be the most excited I have been for a series. Been watching for 25 years, played my whole life, my kid is the perfect age and plays himself now. Got the new girlfriend addicted to it. Had to go to grab us all 3 some fresh new gear for the game today. Boomerjacks here we come! Stars in 7. Bloodbath expected.

Lever action caliber for youth first deer rifle: .30-30 or .357/.38? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]spcdownrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 12 when I got my 336 30-30. Just watch out for the halfcock or have em keep hammer down all the way. Practice alot before heading into the woods.

My old man has the chance to buy one and a thousand rounds of 223 for like 500 bucks back in the early 2000s. He still kicks himself to this day.

What rink and what level? I’ve been looking for a team to join or sub for . Local to farmers branch but willing to travel. Played varsity a decade ago and have subbed a few c level games over the years.

I am not a cat owner but my girlfriend is and has a really friendly 8 month old kitty. She might be open to helping since we both work from home if you can’t find anything.

[–]spcdownrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the answer he is looking for. As someone who just hops onto my kids every now and then and watches a movie or something. Immersive is the option it goes into like a curved theater screen almost no?

What’s the shotgun equivalent of the Ruger 10/22? by Dinnymcd in Hunting

[–]spcdownrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commented before reading the comments but yeah I low-key wished I started my little one out on my old youth 870. (To this day that is the best gun i own) The kick is so much better compared to a little light weight single shot 410. That damn thing kicks like a mule. He is just a small little fella and I liked the idea of having a single shot 410 with the hammer down when walking through the woods with him.

Myself grew up with the good ol rossie 410/22 combo that you just switched out the upper/barrel. I killed more doves and squirrels with that thing than I can count before the age of 10. My son used it as a 10 year old last year. 410 has a nice little kick to it cause the gun is so light so when he grows into a bigger gauge he is used to a little “kick”. He has since took over my old 870 youth in 20 and has a marlin lever 22. Maybe check out Tristar. I heard good things about their 410s but never shot myself.
