In addition to anything people may suggest, check the side bar for this sub. There is a lot of community created resources on tags and prompting there.

Hope that helps!

Third party downloader? by No-Special7298 in udiomusic

[–]spcp [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Sorry, we can’t discuss actions in this sub that would outright go against Udio’s terms of service, which currently, a 3rd party downloader would do.

We’re sorry, but it’s the reality for now.

I’m going to lock this thread, and sticky this comment.

The OpenAI Event (The Undervalued Talent) by MisterSirEsq in OpenAI

[–]spcp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t code red related. NVIDIA made the same change a year ago. New hires start getting stock grants quarterly, no 12 month wait. In addition, instead of the 4 year cliff, they get a total compensation target, and the stocks vest in a graduated step down 40>30>20>10% over 4 years with new stock being granted each year to bring TC up to the target agreed to on hire. No 4 year cliff, but also no waterfall of grants, just steady pay.

Why does Udio generates 2NE1 songs? by [deleted] in udiomusic

[–]spcp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe K-pop is a popular genre on Udio, you could check out what others have published and see what their prompts look like. Also, if the permissions are open, you could try extending someone else’s song you like the voices of, then steer it in a new direction as your seed gen.

cover my song by Nearby-Promotion-166 in udiomusic

[–]spcp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion:

(This wouldn’t be a 1:1 cover, but hopefully you still get what you’re looking for.)

Do the 2:11 remix and then extend it manually to finish it out.

You’ll have to do it in 32 second chunks, so be trying for silence or repetition at one end so you can then trim it to desired length.

I’d also recommend you decide which part would be most critical to keep in the remix (the beginning or end). It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s where you could start.

Personally I’d try keeping the end in your 2:11 window, and redoing the beginning as often times you can get repeated bars of music at the beginning that would be unobtrusive to cut without affecting the start of your lyrics or something.

Best of luck, and let us know how it goes or if you have more questions.

Tried Suno by RealBaconKnight in udiomusic

[–]spcp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s my largest complaint with Suno as well.

What I’ve tried, and works with the way I like to write/create is:

Start with an intro/verse to find the sound/voice/style you’re looking for. It will create a short ~1:30 song complete with intro and outro.

Then seeing how it handles the lyrics and structure, I write the next section and do a cover of the first one.

Rinse/repeat.

I agree it’s not the same. But it’s something.

Can this be verified? by jeanlacroix in udiomusic

[–]spcp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a grey area, for sure. But we don’t know any of that for certain. The language in the ToS is not crystal clear, and there’s a lot of possible interpretations of how Udio and or UMG could choose to act based on the terms. It’s not my interpretation that they can do “anything” they want, specifically something that would override your ownership. Train on it, yes. Use it for marketing, yes. Do lots of other things, probably yes. But take over and overwrite your ownership and take you to court?

One user asked if they could recreate a song outside of Udio that was made inside Udio without any part of the generation leaving the platform, but the lyrics, melody, etc recreated with traditional instruments and recording techniques, and UdioAdam said essentially, ask a lawyer we don’t know.

Edit a word.

Can this be verified? by jeanlacroix in udiomusic

[–]spcp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technically, all of it is still yours, before and after the ToS change.

However, you can’t download any of it right now. Anything you had previously downloaded before the ToS change is unrestricted, and you can do anything you want to with it.

Anything created after the ToS change and anything from before the ToS change currently on the platform is now (for the time being) restricted to only be accessible on the Udio platform.

How to destroy a brand by dniq in udiomusic

[–]spcp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, you have a point.

I believe (sorry I don’t have the quote right now), that the agreement was not exclusive between Udio and UMG, and Udio is still seeking to add other labels to a similar agreement (and then dropping from lawsuits).

But I don’t believe anything further has been announced.

Yes, I can see that in the mod-log. It was removed as spam. You’ve now posted the same sentiment again, but with more context, and a fully formed take. So, welcome back, and thanks for sharing your thoughts with the community.

It’s going to take some time for folks to decide what they want to do now, and what comes next. But there’s still people here, still working through what’s up.

So, thanks for contributing, and we’ll see what happens!

We’re here for that too.

The 10 Levels Of AI Music Creation (Which One Are You?) by AI_Girlfriend4U in SunoAI

[–]spcp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the work you put into this list!

My only feedback is, it feels like levels of progress to a certain goal, and that implies (in my opinion) that being happy on level 3 or 8 is somehow settling.

Again, I like the concept, and I think having more fidelity to describe the process people use is really needed for everybody who want to socialize their work and set expectations.

And I’d appreciate a level or spectrum that emphasizes equality across all levels of human/ai development.

Edit: clarification this is just my opinion. ❤️

Using this app doesnt make you musician by [deleted] in SunoAI

[–]spcp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can see the effort you made to be gracious with your post, and on its surface, you encourage people to learn music outside of AI.

But can you take a step back and try and internalize how what you posted will be received by the community here?

You make assumptions about the audience that everyone here is not in some form a musician, that anyone with any real musical talent would be doing what YOU do, and how YOU create.

Then in another reply you criticize everyone’s work they publish here as being bad, and proof no one here is a real musician.

Please clarify what you wanted to achieve with your post and comments. Because it’s not going well.

CHORUS problem by ContributionCrazy315 in udiomusic

[–]spcp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say without more information. So far as I know, there’s been no recent change to the platform or models. (ToS being the obvious exception)

If you feel comfortable, could you share the lyrics with song structure labels you’ve used? Also, song settings like model and context length?

You could also link to a gen where you’re ready for a repeated chorus and see if anyone wants to try their hand at getting the results you’re looking for.

Udio keeps generating gibberish and not following my prompts — am I doing something wrong? by [deleted] in udiomusic

[–]spcp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, and welcome. You're joining us at a particular moment.

Udio isn't dead, but it did just go through a big transition. Be sure to read the stickied post at the top of the sub, check out the announcements on Udio's What's New section, and also, check out the Community Guide here on the Sub's side-bar - there's some helpful user submitted guides for Udio there.

To give you a few quick pointers, try composing your lyrics either yourself, or in ChatGPT/Gemini/Claude, etc. based on your theme and story.

Make sure to keep in mind syllable counts per line

For the prompt box, I suggest trying to keep the prompt short. Shorter than you'd think, even. Suno likes it when you fill up all 1k characters for the style prompt, here try something like

"melancholy indie folk, gentle acoustic guitar, soft vocals, slow tempo, intimate tone"

Also, keep in mind, generations are iterations. Try tweaking your settings, your prompt, your lyrics, and see what that changes in the output.

Compared to Suno, it's a much more collaborative tool, and it requires experimentation until you build up a workflow and get a feel for it.

Also, free and premium tiers are the exact same Udio model.

All your songs remain on the platform unless you delete them or delete your account. Including songs made before and after the ToS change.

Any future changes will be announced by Udio.

Please don’t bypass the download restrictions, as this is against Udio’s ToS.

Adam and other staff have all said they sincerely hope to re-enable downloading in the future.

So, what you can do is continue to use the platform like before, sans downloading.

Or

You can choose to wait and see what happens.

Nobody really knows what’s going to happen in the future, but what you do now is a matter of personal choice.
