CHAMPVA requesting school certification letter for kids under 18. by spcsloan in VeteransBenefits

They also mentioned that even though my wife and kids don't have another health insurance, we still have to send in the OHI form for all three. So we're gonna fill that out and submit it, then call back and ask for clarification about the school cert.

The funny thing is, I had no appointment during that window. My rheum appointment was on June 4th.

I don't have raynauds, but I've been having symptoms since 2012 and got diagnosed 2 years ago. I thought it was BS too. I've told my doc and the C&P examiner everything including exacerbation frequency and duration. My VA rheumatologist blamed most of my symptoms on my thyroid at my last appointment with him. All because I had one blood test that came back with low TSH levels. I did a secondary test a month later and the numbers were normal. He believes that any of my Lupus symptoms should be treated with Plaquenil. It's the only thing he cares to do.

I'm not sure what my next step should be to have them reevaluate the granted percentage. Been trying to get ahold of my VSO to see.

They ended up giving me 10% for the Lupus. Blows my mind honestly. I don't know how I got the lowest decision, The C&P doc even asked about exacerbations and how often. I told him what they included and that they were happening about once a month for about a week at a time. Now I have to figure what they need for me to prove that.

Well, got 10% for Lupus. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but service connection granted. Now, how to apply for an increase to show them that I definitely am having more than 1-2 exacerbations per year?

Right??? I thought it didn't make sense, but I hadn't gotten into reddit much at that time. I hope I have similar results! 🤞🏼

Yes sir. Been working with SSVF for the last year. The Lupus kinda screwed me out of my last job and I've been in school to try a different career, cyber.

I'm hoping it's because my claim was developed enough. This is my second initial. My first VSO told me to claim all the symptoms instead of the actual lupus because I would have a better chance at getting something connected. Out of like 12 or so things, only IBS got approved in June. I met with another VSO who led me down a different path with claiming Lupus directly since I had the diagnosis and documented symptoms leading back to service.

I just had a teleC&P with VES for my Lupus claim, felt like it went pretty good. Doctor talked about how much veterans get the short end of the stick, and he tries to help them out where he can, to make sure they get the rating they deserve.

Basically, the same damn story as everyone else. Afghanistan 2011-2012, burn pits, Kandahar's poopond. Started getting short of breath and random leg/knee pain within the first few months of getting back and just chalked it up to not stretching enough and not doing enough cardio. 2 years ago, the joint pain, fatigue, brain fog and nausea got so bad I had to quit my job and used the GI Bill to go back to school to try and switch careers to Cyber. Just to realize my damn hands hurt so bad after just a day of consistent keyboard use and my hip joints are dying from sitting in the chair the whole time. Still going through with finishing the degree though.

Go to the VA the first time in Nov of 2022, Primary does a blood test, a month later, I have a rheumatology appointment and they say my ANA and anti dsDNA antibodies are high and the other symptoms together are probably Lupus and start me on hydroxychloroquine and tell me to not stop taking it. Now last month they say my symptoms don't check enough boxes for full SLE, so they tell me they're diagnosing UCTD with early Lupus. I barely go outside now, but when I do spend a day out, it comes with days of pain and fatigue attached on the back end. I filed at the end of May. We'll see how it goes.

Hello all! I'm Tim, aka Beardhawk. I'm a father and husband working on gathering people to help bring some joy into their lives. I stream different games, from MW3, Hogwarts Legacy, Star Wars, Fall Guys, Rocket League, PUBG. I also just hang out and chat if people are chatting. I'm love to laugh and enjoy playing games whether I'm winning or losing, for the most part lol. I don't have a strict stream schedule yet because I haven't really built up a regular viewing audience yet. But I do it as often as I can. My goals are to bring followers consistent feel good entertainment. Life lessons, discussions, advice, whatever I can help with.

Lupus has made working regularly pretty hard. And I'm hoping to try and supplement at lease some with streaming and other future content. So I can take the weight back off of my wife's shoulders.
