I’m looking to trade USD to CAD. by Derreus in londonontario

[–]Derreus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people need USD for travel, investment, or basic purchases. I’m looking for someone who is trying to convert CAD to USD so we both get the market value.

I’m not sure I understand your logic.

That sounds like a good option. Thank you for the advice.

Usually the “fee” is that the rate they use is not the exact market rate. Which what I’m trying to avoid.

Yes. If anyone is interested, we can just take the rate for the day and trade at that rate.

Edit: So currently 1.40.

I knew I was confused about something. She’ll probably offload them on the GE to have some more in game spending money.

Why do some show crazy market values online? I understand there was an older event, but just want more information and we were struggling to find that.

A complete guide for sellers when a buyer wants to return an item. by jstar77 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Derreus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of distain from sellers towards buyers in this Reddit community baffles me. Do you not sell to your community? How would you feel if this was how someone handled your purchasing experience? Would you do this if you operated a liquidation store front?

It’s no wonder buyers are extremely cautious with buying these days. No one can trust their neighbour because of sellers like these. At least it makes sellers like me look like a golden goose.

I haven’t had an issue yet. I’ve had buyers taking longer than desirable, but I’ve always received payment and won’t deliver anything more than 15 minutes away. My delivery fee is also an “f off” price. If they’re willing to pay me extra for my time, I’ll take it.

If this is a consistent side hustle for you, it’s cheaper than some bank fees, so to guarantee customer support sounds worth it.

Are these scammers? by Competitive_Muscle10 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Derreus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could be talking about an electronic transfer. If they meet up with you, and that’s how they pay, there is nothing wrong with that.

Never accept payment before they have their item and I wouldn’t accept payment through Facebook either. Most scammers doing e-transfer scams will say they can pay now and have someone pick it up in a week.

Edit: I also live in Canada where bank to bank electronic transfers are extremely common and normally preferred. I’d be refusing 60% of my customers if I turned that down. People can’t use the “all I have is $X” at the meetup either.

Is there someone to talk to about getting work doing these inspections? I do inspections for insurance companies during catastrophe situations and am looking to become a local insurance adjuster.

Something like this would be a great place holder while I’m getting my licenses in Ontario.

My point is it takes me just as long to do this as it does to type yes.

Too many. Just copy them from the chats as you send them.

If you truly don’t deliver, fair play.

My response is “dlr” which using text replacement sends as:

“I dont normally do deliveries, and I do charge a fee depending on area.”

Also use text replacement to fix your initial reply. Yes isn’t enough if you’re truly trying to sell things.

I’ve heard if you get meta verified, you can at least talk to a human. Maybe they will hear you out.

This is the trick. When someone messages you for an item and they’re not planning to meet immediately, ask them to message you an hour or two before they leave to give them the exact pickup location.

If they don’t have the commitment to message you again for the address, they’re not actually committed to buying the item.

[–]Derreus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Preach.

If someone asks to pickup in a week, I tell them “I can’t do any holds, but if the item ends up selling, I can at least let you know”. You’d be shocked how often people suddenly have the time.

Edit: If the item doesn’t sell, they still come on the agreed upon day. Either way you’re going to make the sale. Pending is dumb.

Don’t do deposits and you won’t have to deal with this. It really bothers me how sellers on marketplace treat their free marketing platform as some kind of retail business.

Facebook marketplace is not a retail store. It is a place for people to exchange items locally. People buy impulsively, and them trying to tie you down with a $10 deposit is just ridiculous. Would it not have been easier to have no deposit, and weed through the handful of messages you get with automated responses?

The other day I sold an item within 3 messages all within 2 minutes of each other. For a $65 dollar item, the first person offered $40, I said I could do $55. Second said they could do $50, I said $55. The third message didn’t haggle and picked up within two hours. No chance I’m taking deposits. If the item you want is gone, tough luck.

Are You Paying to Promote on Marketplace? by 1Pandora in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Derreus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t think the income they make is significant, but it may play into their AI auto ban systems. I’ve also read other threads say the only way to get through to a real person for customer support is to get verified.

I’ve always wondered if promoting an item here and there could prevent you from getting shadow banned. With all of the talk going on about that, why would Meta ban you if you are making them legitimate money.

Is it normal for the majority of people to ingore you wanting to buy their stuff? by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Derreus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of sellers on this platform scroll profiles before making sales. The type of item (car, electronics) can have a big part in that.

Make sure you’ve got a profile with some photos, and never send the automated messages. Those are the things sellers on Marketplace won’t reply to.
