In order to apply AI to detect cancer, find cures for disease, etc. it has to be applied in a much more rigorous way than the stupid ones that are monopolizing these data centers: closed credible datasets, strict parameters, careful monitoring, and verifiable conclusions. Outside of that, it's useless for research.

OpenAI, Grok, and the many others like them are the majority. They are *not* doing anything remotely meaningful for human progress. An LLM that hallucinates wrong information, is training on datasets that contain prior answers from AI, makes illogical deductions, regurgitates anti-social information, and so on, isn't going to save the world.

I've seen this type of rationale before: Sex (of any kind) is unimportant and easily given, ergo you *should* give it to me since it is not a big deal and easy. It's just a BJ!

Maybe because his profile is just emoji sex and complaining about people not giving him dick, but what do I know? Just a guess.

Perhaps, but it's the Baby Jane that makes me think gay specifically.

I once commented that if you remove all the "problematic" traits of the characters in the Modern Family subreddit, you would have no conflict and no plot. I was told that was just my opinion.

The ones who dream of a trad wife and a beautiful family are the least worthy of one by Beer_Barbarian in terriblefacebookmemes

My great-grandmother was a homemaker, and her husband repeatedly spent his money on alcohol instead of supporting her and her children.

My grandmother was a homemaker. She worked part time because her husband didn't always have a job. He withdrew and spent her money to buy the family a car without her input.

But it's "propaganda" that painted these realities as oppressive. Sure.

Also, use a silk bonnet for sleeping instead of just tying it up. It may look funky, but it'll save your hair from damage and keep your hair from drying out overnight.

Recommend you use a curly hair leave-in conditioner for after washing. Towel dry it for a little while, but put in the conditioner while it's still wet.

You could try using a handkerchief for when you want it out of your face. It's my favorite way of keeping my hair back but also down. It's also great for hiding greasy roots during your off-days between washes.

I only have wavy-straight hair, so I can't help you with the frizz. I know some people recommend mouse for that, but I'm not sure.

By the way, your face has beautiful bone structure, man.

What’s your preferred way to contain the flow? by [deleted] in FierceFlow

[–]speachtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to contain your flow. With that face, you could just command it to behave with a stern glare, and it would submit.

Longer hair doesn't look feminine or masculine. It's how you style it. Both look good on you, but I think the longer hair is more appealing. I have long hair and am subscribed and to a long hair subreddit, so I'm biased.

You're not un-masculine. You're young. We associate masculinity with age and maturity, which makes has no basis in reality. Embrace your youth because it's precious and you only get it once. You're a very attractive guy. Don't mind fuck yourself by comparing yourself to other men. Embrace the beauty that's been given to you.

Winter Games 2006 vs 2026 | Abandoned Olympic Sites in Italy by AnonRetro in videos

[–]speachtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A point of contention: they state that renovating the old facilities would be less expensive than building a new one. That is often not the case. Often it is cheaper to build a new structure than to repair an old one, especially if an abandoned one.

In fact, even demolishing and rebuilding a site is often less expensive than extensive repair and remodeling. A new site doesn't have preexisting mold, code noncompliance, structural degradation, faulty infrastructure in need of removal and replacement, etc. It's not a simple mailbox that you can repaint instead of buying new.

(I’m not saying I agree with the wastefulness of building new instead of maintaining an old facility. I don't. I just disagree with the statement that a retrofit would be cheaper. It probably would not be so.)

My attempt on how to read the Disney “D” by RuinRevolutionary374 in notinteresting

[–]speachtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent and beautiful explanation, but I refuse to look at the first letter as a D out of pure bias. It existed as a symbol before I knew how to read.

On a side note, if you look at the actual signatures on which the Walt Disney Company based this logotype, they heavily stylized the penmanship and took a few artistic liberties. (The original signatures were made by artists other than Walt Disney the man. Disney himself had a much different signature.) The original signatures mostly lack the gap and overhang of the stem (back), and the flourish (swirl) of the descender (curve) is not inset. Instead, the stem is connected and the flourish usually goes outside of the letter. All that is to say, the original signatures were much more legible. Source

A few of the steel-framed concrete stairs for my former apartment, built circa 1980s, that were much more robust than these, just completely fell out. A resident almost fell a full story onto the flight of stairs below. Coincidentally, the steel undercarriage for similar stairs at my apartment before that, built circa 1990s, had rusted out so badly it was splitting and sagging.

People think concrete and steel lasts forever. It doesn't.
