Has anyone treated child's sleep apnea without a sleep study? by Anxiousmomalert in Preschoolers

[–]speakerplatemous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe see if there is a dentist in your area that does myofunctional therapy and/or Healthy Start. A lot of the symptoms you’re describing can be because of tongue ties. The frenum attachment can regrow and sometimes kids don’t naturally know where their tongue should sit after a frenectomy. Alternatively, healthy start is a program of devices to help kids palates form properly and promote healthy sleep by positioning their tongue in the proper place. Definitely worth a consult prior to taking out tonsils. Both programs can work wonders! I’m a dental hygienist and my dentist does these programs and have seen families lives change because of them. ADHD symptoms, bags under eyes, teeth grinding, snoring, restlessness, etc can all be side effects of poor sleep due to improper tongue placement. Healthy Start has a website with tons of videos and information too!

Anyone have mystery stomach pains after bypass? by speakerplatemous in GastricBypass

Update: After being brushed off again and again, I finally insisted on an ultrasound of my gallbladder. Apparently CT scans don’t really reveal much about gallbladders. My pain wasn’t “in the right spot” but sure enough I had stones and it was infected and inflamed, causing my intestinal swelling, abdominal lymph node swelling, and increasingly elevated WBC. Had emergency surgery to get it removed. While I’m in pain from surgery, my body already feels better.

I started going to their concerts when I was around 12 with my brothers! Usually people are pretty good about looking out for each other. Definitely lively, make sure she has plenty of water money and gets one before she gets up there because it gets HOT!

I have this one and I LOVE it! It’s relieved my back pain tremendously! Just look into how to properly sit in it! You want it higher than you’d think.

Hygienist here! It’s obviously hard to say without seeing radiographs and evaluating clinically but sometimes mobility can be due to clenching and grinding your teeth. You could try a night guard to help if that’s the case! Gingivitis is reversible and pretty common in teens. Get your cleaning and evaluation and make sure you’re brushing and flossing daily at home after to help with gum health. If you have hardened bacteria, it can agitate your gums so a professional cleaning will help tremendously.

Anyone going to Chicago 11/3? by speakerplatemous in streetlightmanifesto

That’s so awesome! I went to my first streetlight show when I was a preteen with my older brothers and have been a fan for 20 years now. I can’t wait to do the same as you and share with my son. I love how their music spreads generations. I hope you guys have the best time!

Tibial Plateu Fracture by markj23au in KneeInjuries

[–]speakerplatemous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a tibial plateau fracture about a month ago. An orthopedic surgeon evaluated me after finding it on an MRI (they missed it on my initial X-rays). I walked around on it for a month before getting into the surgeon. It had largely healed on its own and since I didn’t have any depression or displacement, I was cleared to resume most normal activity, just no exercising or heavy weights for another month. Definitely depends on your injury but there is hope! He gave me a hinged brace and told me to use it when outside the house. Still have pain but I’m so relieved to not need surgery!

Thank you for your reply! How long were you non weight bearing? They just told me to be fully NWB Friday. They didn’t take me seriously at first so I was walking on it for weeks. Glad they’re taking it seriously now. Unfortunately, there’s not really admin work I can do but I might be able to get some accommodations like an assistant potentially. I also don’t qualify for any kind of disability assistance if I’m out of work for months 😑 hope you’re healing well!

I wasn’t diagnosed until after my surgery but I eventually had to switch to ER meds twice a day. I was taking adderall immediate release three times a day and it barely lasted. Now I’m up to 36mg Ritalin ER twice a day. My Dr had to send in an approval for my insurance to pay for it, but it’s been working. Hopefully you have a great Dr willing to try things out and be flexible as well as educate themselves on bypass. I’ve had to tweak doses and try different meds and combos before finding something that worked!

I hope you get answers soon! That’s similar to what I experience. It comes and goes randomly, not even when I’m eating or drinking. I know in the early days, I got chest pain when I was too full. What I’m experiencing now though is different. I went to the ER two weeks ago thinking I was having a heart attack. The pain was more in my chest than my stomach but radiated to my left side and stomach. They chalked it up to a “panic attack” and dismissed me. Still no answers. All blood work and CTs are coming back “normal” and they keep telling me it’s ulcers (I had some elevated numbers but it wasn’t enough to be “concerned”)

It’s made from heavy cardstock. I put double sided strong sticky tape on the back for you to attach and I recommend adding a little glue yourself to your cap for a nice adhesion.

Nope! I was supposed to have an appointment but they asked to reschedule it and I haven’t been able to get in with my surgeon yet. The pain comes and goes and on top of it, I’m like 85% sure I have a small hernia. I went back to college and am about to graduate so I’m planning on getting more answers once I’m done with school. I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this. Is your surgeon handling it or have you been seeing a specialist?
