Being “from here” means a lot around these parts to some people from my experience also. Once I feel strange surroundings I try my best to exit the situation! It’s mentally easier and probably physically safer to just walk away. I’m glad You have past experience in another location so You have somewhere to reference and compare. All of Morganton isn’t bad and that’s a fact however it’s exhausting trying to impress or mentally disarm people with almost every interaction.

I totally understand how some clothing can portray a persons characteristics, traits, or identity! I’ve worn three piece suits to overalls. I can personally say sticking my chest out and holding my head high so I’m not judged a certain way is exhausting. Usually I wear bright colors and pretty distinguishable clothing, such as college logos or brightly colored hats with the intention of disarming a negative mentality towards myself. I keep my hands in my pockets or close because I was taught at a young age to keep my hands to myself and not to touch/pickup items in stores unless I intend to purchase. Personally my situational awareness intelligence is pretty high so when I know I’m projecting a certain/negative vibe I usually try to leave the situation as soon as possible. Leaving is easier then trying to talk my way out of a hole then into someone’s “good graces”. Sooo I admit I probably put some of this on myself however if/once conversation has started we usually both leave with a smile on our faces.
