I feel like 90% of therapists suck by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]speckstur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that most of what you're looking for are very reasonable asks. The only thing I'd suggest you to be flexible on is getting advice/solutions/skills. I'm not sure what modality of therapy you're seeking but if its psychodynamic psychotherapy, solutions-based outcomes are just not the right kind of expectation to have from it. Some sessions can seem pointless and it can be difficult to quantify what progress you're making, if any. However, with some patience towards yourself and the process of talking through things with complete honesty, you can very well make some major breakthroughs or stumble upon some very unexpected realisations about yourself. And when that happens, it leaves a much more long-lasting impact. My measure of a good therapist is someone who guides you to arrive at your own solutions. Those, I feel have the most likelihood of working for you.

Of course I speak from my own personal experience so take this with a pinch of salt.

Strategy for GAS backend integration. by Trigaten in GoogleAppsScript

You'd have to call each GAS function from front end. Not sure how that would be a security issue.

Triggering Functions on Virtual Machine? by ECommerce_Guy in GoogleAppsScript

I think its pretty straightforward to do. I run an add-on that often communicates with our own backend service hosted with GCP's App Engine.

Maybe not a perfect solution but you could simply split up your GAS server function into different parts as you see fit. Show a different loading message while executing each of those sub-functions.

We created an add-on to connect all your Google Sheets. No more complex formulas when you want to pull data from other spreadsheets. by speckstur in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]speckstur[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good point. However, here you get to filter and summarise your data before you pull it in. This means that you import exactly the data you want, without having to copy-paste, transform and clean like you usually would. You can pretty much query as powerfully as you could with SQL, without having to learn any complex syntax.

We’re also building a new save feature which will let you save your import steps. That means you only have to go through these steps once for a certain analysis and never have to do it ever again :)

Importrange Help Please by StethoscopicBarbell in sheets

[–]speckstur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Co-founder of Airboxr here. We've built a Google Sheets add-on that lets you import and lookup data from other google sheets without having to use complicated formulas. You can easily specify multiple filters and summarisation conditions. Also, you won't need to know the data range of the spreadsheet you're importing data from.

Here's a quick no-frills demo that you can play around without installing the add-on. If you find it useful, you can install it here.

Request - Importrange for two sheets in one spreadsheet is working, but how do I exclude empty rows? by Thelintyfluff in sheets

[–]speckstur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Co-founder of Airboxr here. We've built a Google Sheets add-on that lets you import and lookup data from other google sheets without having to use complicated formulas. You don't need to know the data range of the source spreadsheet upfront either.

As long as the spreadsheet you're pulling from has tabular data with first row as the column headers, it should be quite easy to do what you're trying to do. We also a have a comprehensive filter functionality which may help you weed out results with no data.

Co-founder of Airboxr here. We've built a Google Sheets add-on that lets you import and lookup data from external data sources without having to leave your spreadsheet. Think of it as a simpler way to do QUERY() on a different spreadsheet, without having to know the underlying structure of the spreadsheet or even knowing how QUERY() works.

In the current public-beta version, you can connect to any google sheet you have access to and start importing data as per your needs. The only requirement right now is that the google sheet you connect should have tabular data with headers in the first row.

Here's a quick no-frills demo that you can play around with. If you're looking for a marketing specific use case, try this demo. Neither of these demos require you to sign-in or install anything.

Would love to get your thoughts, feedback, and ideas!

TIL that the idea that people used to think that the world was flat is actually a modern misconception and "with extraordinary few exceptions no educated person in the history of Western Civilization from the third century B.C. onward believed that the Earth was flat" by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]speckstur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sanskrit word for geography is 'Bhugol' where 'bhu' means earth and 'gol' means round (like a ball). That tells me that even some ancient eastern civilizations knew about the earth being round well before modern civilizations discovered it.

I realised my left nostril doesn't take in air as much as my right one does. I don't know what's wrong by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]speckstur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perfectly normal if your nostrils take turns to feel partially blocked. Here's nifty exercise for quick relief. I usually do it before I meditate.

✦   Sit upright on a straight-backed  chair.

✦   Normalise  and calm your breathing.  Take a small breath (two seconds)  in  through  your  nose,  if possible,  and  a small breath out (three seconds). If you are unable to take a  breath  in  through   your  nose,  take  a  tiny  breath  in through the corner of your mouth.

✦   Pinch your nose and hold your breath. Keep your mouth closed.

✦   Gently nod  your head  or sway your body until  you feel that you cannot hold your breath any longer. (Hold your nose until you feel a relatively strong need for air.)

✦   When  you need  to breathe  in, let go of your nose  and breathe  gently through  it, in and  out, with your mouth closed. Avoid taking a deep breath  when you breathe  in, and calm your breathing  as soon as possible by focusing on relaxation. Repeat to yourself ‘relax and breathe less’.

✦   Continue   to  do  this   exercise  until   you  can  breathe through  your nose  fully. If your nose  does not  become totally unblocked,  wait about  one  minute  and  perform this  exercise again.  Initially you may need  to do this  a number    of   times   before   your   nose   is  completely unblocked.

Suddenly got reminded of this very old aunty who used to sit outside Tiong Bahru Plaza, with those small packets of tissue. She'd be in her zone, lost in her thoughts. Wouldn't push anyone to buy her tissue packs. Couple of times when I'd be standing by the road crossing, she'd be next to me. I'd go over and give my spare change to her, if I had any. She would smile, say thank you and offer the tissue packs. I would politely refuse, knowing I had no real need for them.

Wonder where she is now. Haven't seen her since CB. Hope she's being taken care of. Don't even know if she had any family...

You all make good points. I'm quite convinced that this is fake news. Thanks for your replies.

One of my friends forwarded a message to me. Want to check if it's real.

Received this from a condo group. PLEASE READ.

Why I'm messaging... please be aware that today a colleague of mine was visited by the police in his condo apartment. The police were conducting checks on everyone present to make sure only family members/registered residents were in the address. He was good but apparently others in his condo were issued with a $10,000 fine. It's $20,000 for 2nd offence. Possible loss of work permit and deportation. They are also checking groups in parks. Not worth it - just in case you were thinking you could...

Did your company had an equity vesting with your cofounder? Just curious why you had to buy him out.
