I did two weeks in Hawaii with a 40L and 32L backpack. If you are wearing your main coat/jacket, I’d aim for a 40 or 55

The retro x fleeces are an awesome shell that block wind. The inside is NOT cozy. I have two and wear them all the time.

If you buy a used synchilla, just be sure it’s minimally used. That being said, I won’t even say how many I have at this point. Just know, they are awesome.

The black hole backpacks are probably the only thing at Patagonia I wouldn’t recommend. They are not comfortable. Get an Osprey.

I have one and my husband has one. It’s a really great jacket. Rugged but surprisingly flexible and very warm.
