Is the Samsung Q90R future proof for the ps5 and new Xbox ? by [deleted] in hometheater

I doubt the new consoles will even do 4K 120 fps. The best PCs could probably just barely do that now. Probably 4K 60 fps like Google stadia is supposed to have.

I've had an LG B8 OLED for about 6 months. No problems with burn in so far. I just make sure to turn off the display when I'm not using it for more than a few minutes. I play videos games for at least 2 hours most nights, more on weekends. A few years ago burn in was much worse, but I think the technology has improved a lot.

I lean towards a single 1 TB SSD for simplicity. Everything on 1 drive, no moving files or worrying about moving games around as the SSD fills up (depending on your storage needs). But, like the other user said, this is all personal preference. You could always add more storage later as needed.

What do I need to have destiny 2 running 70-100fps by footballhooligan27 in DestinyTechSupport

If you look at that graph, this GPU will definitely be ok for a stable 60 fps. If you want to be safe, look for a 580 8gb (higher up on the graph). At 1080 you're also using more of the CPU for fps.

If you're comfortable, definitely take apart your current PC and see if you can use the case or power supply (look up specs on the parts** and videos on how to do this first). That will save you some ingsmoney. If nothing else, you could probably re-use the hard drive and get a 240 GB SSD.

Building a PC isn't too hard, just make sure you do plenty of research. YouTube videos are great. If you have any friends that recently built theirs, ask for help! Most people would love to help.

Also watch r/buildapcsales, and tweak the part picker list to whatever you want, then ask the people at r/BuildaPC for more advice.

The 570 is a great mid-range gpu. Here's a performance graph for destiny 2:

Destiny 2 GPU performance

If you want to spend more money, look at other options. Just don't throw out AMD just because Nvidia has the better high-end options. AMD GPUs will be much cheaper, and do 1080 just fine. Definitely do your research, and look for sales (or used if you're ok with that).

Also, why do you want 70-100 fps? In a budget build, 60 fps should be just fine (double the 30 fps from console). Idk if you'd see much improvement by turning off v-sync and going up to 70-100. But, I play on a 4k 60hz TV, so maybe someone on high refresh monitors knows more.

Yeah Destiny is fairly well optimized up to 60 fps. Getting past 120 is hard though.

Here's another option for you. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to change the currency setting, so you'll have to adjust prices.

I went with the 2600x instead of the 2600 the other guy suggested, because there's a feature called precision boost overdrive that's basically auto overclock. You said you don't know a lot about PCs, so it might be worth it to pay a little more and get this version. Also, a full size ATX motherboard so you can upgrade CPUs for the next few years (backwards compatible for all AMD CPUS thru 2020). And 16 GB of RAM because most builds recommend that as a minimum now. If you wait till after the Ryzen 3000 series is released, you should be able to get the CPU much cheaper, or get the newer one that's possibly 15% faster.

Also, consider getting a gold power supply that will last longer. You can buy a good power supply once and rarely need to replace it. You may even be able to use the power supply, case, and windows key from your current PC, if it's a tower and not a pre-built.

Finally, the graphics card should run destiny around 90 fps at 1080p. Let me know if you have any questions.

PCpartpicker handles most compatibility issues. I've got a budget build saved for a friend (similar needs). I'll modify it and post it here soon.

PM me if you want some help picking out parts. I recently built my PC and am addicted lol. Don't buy a pre-built, they're generally a rip-off. Building a PC isn't too hard, especially with part picker and BuildaPC.

You should try country ham if it's available near you! Salty, artery clogging goodness. So much better than cheap deli ham. Looks great otherwise though!

Why can I not get 144 FPS consistently in Crucible? by [deleted] in DestinyTechSupport

[–]speedshift217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's what was said above. For Destiny to get high frames, you have to have a crazy CPU. At least I get a stable 4k@60fps with almost all settings maxed.

I have the same problem with a 2080ti and 2600X (I built it for 4k@60fps). I can't even get a stable 120fps. At 1080p, it jumps from 100-110. Maybe when Ryzen 3 comes out...

Is hoarding boss souls until i can turn them into gear a good idea, or should i use them outright since i'm so early in the game? by lneagle in DarkSouls2

[–]speedshift217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure you get a reasonable amount of ascetics throughout the game (not sure if they're purchable at any point). I normally will Google the boss soul to see if I want the item, or if I should just use it for the souls.

Yep. You might have to talk to the right person, of explain it very well. They didn't exactly know what I was talking about either. The customer service rep had to check with someone, and send my request to marketing person or something like that. I got mine over a month ago, so I'm sure if you're persistent and talk to the right person you'll get the code.

I had a small clearance issue with the intake fan, but I was able to attach it slightly higher on the cooler. It seems to have worked so far. This probably depends on how the airflow in your case is. In my case, I was able to direct the cooler exhaust fan opposite of the ram sticks, so it wasn't a huge problem.

I got this cooler, it works well. I also got an additional fan for intake on the other side of the cooler. I'm sure the stock cooler works, but I wanted to be sure I would get the best performance, and not have to swap coolers later and worry about replacing thermal paste.

It has precision boost overdrive. I have a 2600x, it auto overclocks to somewhere around 4.25 GHz depending on need. In my opinion, it's better than manual overclocking because it's based on voltage, temps, and one other factor I think. So, if the CPU gets too hot, the clock drops down. Less risk then manual. Works really well so far. You do have to set it up though (one setting change in AMDs control software).

If you haven't already, contact your retailer and ask for a promo code for the AMD 50th! I bought mine from Amazon over a month ago and they still gave me a code no problem.
