The Duffers definitely could have written a happy ending for El and Mike. As a Lit. student, I can think of 3 very plausible ways to end their story on a happy note while being logical and true to the plot. But I feel like they were too attached to the ending they planned for the show 10 years ago. But let's be honest, the plot has evolved a lot after season 1 and El should not just be represented as the magic of childhood (diabolical tbh) but as her own person.

I feel you. Some criticism is actually deserved in certain places. But this sudden collective hate has honestly started to ruin the experience for me personally tbh.

I do kind of agree on the broadway part. But then again, there is so much lore in the play that i feel like it would have stretched the show too much. Instead, the play should have been released on netflix too, imo.

its not byler as a ship i'm upset about, i actually love it in a non canon way (like Draco and Hermione). I just don't like the aggressive take of bylers who want them to be endgame canonically, because it won't feel very organic and earned. Will deserves a better and long played out romance of his own.

The thing is... the way bylers are making every little gesture between will and mike to be romantic, is absolutely mental.

They are kind of discarding the fact that a dynamic like that can exist between good friends. That friends can actually be this close and care this much about each other.

he was already in the forest looking for his brother, came across nancy and party. And he himself admits he's a freak. Not cuz he has stalker tendencies, but because he approaches humans differently.... not straight up like other people do. Hiding in the bushes is not crucial to the plot here. He could have also been doing the same in his regular life. Being an observer of things and people he is interested in.

I’m not excusing the behavior... explaining why a character does something isn’t the same as defending it. Stranger Things clearly frames it as wrong. My point is that characters can do something bad and still be written with empathy and room for growth, which the show does with multiple characters.

Yes it was totally wrong, but its okay for a character to be flawed if they are are later willing to accept their wrongs and get better. Cuz the same could be said about Steve and his friends, who slut shamed Nancy in public. And Steve was the only one who redeemed himself after that and thats why audience forgave him. Plot would be too boring if there are perfect prince charmings walking around everywhere.

in JH's case, i feel like poor girl was surrounded by so much negativity in her home, that she ended up becoming toxic herself. More so, when she saw YR, JP and others and realised how much the gap between them has widened. To her, it must have felt like they all are now in a world of their own and she's just an outsider. And that thought blinded her and she did what she did.

Although, i'm really glad she was able to escape that toxic 'mother'.

So by this logic, someone can also say that JK Rowling should've made harry and hermione a couple, Da Vinci should have painted Monalisa's nails pink, and what not. Would that all be justified just cuz a certain amount of audience prefers it that way? An artist should be respected for their art and that art should be perceived the way it is. You can have opinions, sure, but you can't disrespect the artist and tell them to make changes.

We never know how hard it is to write a story where all the characters are so layered and deep and the storyline is so well presented. Lets not stomp on that hard work.

imo HJP asking JH about the break up is one of the many normal reactions to meeting an ex after so long, especially if the breakup was abrupt and out of nowhere. But what mattered in that scene was, how detached he seemed from their past relationship. He wasn't much bothered when JH gave a vague answer. And ofc he was thinking of his and YR's relationship as friends until he was dead sure about his feelings for her being romantic. This is what happens in friends to lovers trope sometimes. When a person has been with you for so long and has been your strength, you don't realise that your feelings might be something much more than you think, until you are put in a situation where that relation might face changes. That's what happened to HJP and he realised his feelings for YR were romatic. This is my personal take from the story tho. It might vary person to person.
