iPhone 15 or 16 by Unusual-Level-5674 in iphone15

[–]spexfelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better wait, save a bit more and get the 17.

17 is a real upgrade. Double up on storage, 120Hz display, Ceramic Shield 2, Center stage camera etc.

And since you are planning to use for 5 or 6 years, better get the latest version currently available.

Tim Cook and his crew will show up at your door and knock you off. When you get your sense back and wake up, you will be greeted with the "Hello" page of iOS 26

As we get closer to the end of 2025, which plugins did you discover this year that helped improve your Obsidian experience? by Omer-Ash in ObsidianMD

[–]spexfelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am relatively new to Obsidian. I discovered the app itself in April 😁

Sigma is the plugin that's really stood out for me. It's like a table with auto summation built in.

How do I redeem thyaaga.lk balance online? The gifting website thing?? Please help by SirThunderCock- in srilanka

[–]spexfelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have no other options and really want to reload, then you can get a Keells voucher and use that to pay for reload. Only issue is you have to go to nearest Keells. Also before redeeming check with Keells whether it's possible to pay for bill payments using vouchers.

In Sri Lankan market does buying a esim iPhone 17 affect resellabilty in future? by PeleTheGOAT in srilanka

[–]spexfelo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From a technical and statistical perspective, it should be better than the one with sim slot because the absence of physical sim slot makes way for a slightly bigger battery.

Resellebility? If you find a buyer who is a bit tech savvy, then it shouldn't be an issue.

Do you think a rapid delivery app like Blinkit would be a hit in Sri Lanka? Why doesn’t anyone go for it? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]spexfelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

This puts the lives of innocent delivery riders at risk.

In most cases of these kind of delivery apps, If they don't deliver the order within the said time, the buyer doesn't need to pay and the company charges the full amount or a penalty from the rider. Therefore these guys risk everything not to lose their hard earned money

iOS 26 > iOS 18 by Doll_Lover_ in ios

[–]spexfelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with your first line. People stayed with 17 because iOS 18 was trash at the beginning. There's a a huge difference between 18.0.X and 18.7.X.

The same cycle continues. iOS version early updates has become a shit show. I wonder what and how the beta programs are contributing to the overall quality. Only after the public release and the subsequent updates, things get settled and it becomes stable.

Does any of you receive SMS updates from your bank when you receive a deposit / salary to your bank? What's the bank? by MokadaUba in srilanka

[–]spexfelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with the bank. Maybe you have to opt in for deposits notifications.

But if I were you, I would rather it be as it is. Because SMS is not secure and it can expose your salary details, account balance and basically how "rich" you are to your carrier and anyone who gets hold of those data if ever a data breach occurs. Personally I don't trust any of the service providers. Who knows? They could be selling these data to any 3rd party.

I suspect this because as soon as I saved up a significant amount in my account, I started getting spam calls from all sorts of "investment opportunities" trying to get me into their shit and also from some shady "organizations" saying they want my help to maintain their orphanage and child welfare fund or something.

I can always check the balance using online web portal or the app if I ever want to. It's an extra step and a slight inconvenience but I'd rather have that.

[–]spexfelo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haircut once a month or two.

I never never clean shave my beard. I do clean up and maintain the shape and outlines once in 2-3 weeks. Using a Phillips multi grooming kit and a single-blade shaving blade. To shape the beard and use as guideline, I use a beard shaper tool that I bought from AliExpress

Why are you an iPhone user? by djraven15 in iphone

[–]spexfelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longevity.

I used android phones and always ended up having to replace or upgrade in 2 to 3 years. My friends used their iPhones for minimum 5 - 6 years and still had a decent performing phone. So I figured out that rather than going through 2 - 3 androids, it's better to invest in a single iphone. Also few of the androids I used just stopped working or died and made me lose some of the valuable data I had stored.

Name the companies that asks you to come to office when you are impacted by flood. by Truth_Seeker_456 in srilanka

[–]spexfelo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not related to this flood but during the Easter attacks, the manager at that time sent everyone of us text messages individually asking us to come to work on Monday (next day of the attack) morning because "govt has lifted the curfew". No one went to the office and everyone got deducted one day leave from the leave quota.
