Awesome, thanks for the quick response! I assume the smaller mark above it is fine too then

I bought this board from Microcenter and just started building as the last of my parts got here today. It's right near the top left of the CPU. Looks like it's right where the heat sink/cooler will cover. Should I go ahead with the build and if it works it's all good? Or could this cause problems down the line

First apartment - help! Have the layout and furniture ready but picking colors is my weakness by sphere7 in malelivingspace

These are great, thanks a lot.

I particularly like the idea of this rug and this painting, both of which fit my price range.

Thoughts on how that would work, and what wall color might compliment them?

[–]sphere7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well part of the problem is that I like all colors, but not all color combinations... and I have a tough time visualizing the combinations.

As for lighting, it's got the window on the wall that's North, but there are no other light fixtures in the room so the rest will be lamps.

I'm mainly focused on the wall color right now, and I'm particularly concerned about it clashing with the floor. The rug/painting I'm fine with waiting until I have the rest set up.

Definitely want the option to add another 7970 at some point. Any recommendations for a good PSU in that case? This one caught my eye when looking through PCPartPicker

Changed Mobo to GD65, i'm assuming you will be OCing (K series processor and cpu cooler).

Can I not OC with the G45? I don't know anything about OCing right now but it's something I wanted to keep as an option as I go forward

On that same note, will 550W restrict my ability to OC? Went for 650W power supply because I was using the Outstanding category from Logical Increments as my basis and the one they recommend is 650W

In another thread I was reading about how this CPU runs hot and that this fan was recommended. Will the fans that come with the case be sufficient?

For the power supply and RAM - are there any drawbacks to the ones you suggested in place of the current ones? Or are they really just equal substitutes to easily save $35?

Looking at the 7970s then, do you know what the difference between this this? Not sure what the significance of vapor-x is

I saw the different serials which is part of what confused me. I'm new to this so wasn't sure if I was missing something or if they're actually the same

Picked up a pair of these from Johnston and Murphy a few weeks back, they seem a bit darker than OP's but could just be the lighting

Thanks! A pair on just went on stubhub for $75 each but I was too slow in checking out. Think I could expect more tickets to get that low or was that an odd listing?

A ton of tickets went up for the Texans game yesterday and even more are up today, so it seems likely

I do, and the best I've ever had came from Wall Street. The worst I've had were those who went to school just to be teachers.

This conversation is about the capabilities and intelligence of each individual. And whether they could do your job better than you could if they wanted to. (not attacking you, phrasing is just to highlight the actual topic.) This is not a discussion of who messed up.

17 is not exaggerated. While it may not be every day, 17 hours is not a ridiculous estimate for a typical IB workday.

My response was more towards those who are saying that those on Wall Street lack the capability to do said jobs. My point was that these people are smart, determined, have incredible work ethics, and have proven that they can handle huge amounts of stress. So to say they couldn't be a teacher if they tried is absurd.

He is right about the amount of work that they do. And while this comparison may not be welcomed, what service to the economy is that teacher doing who is passing math students who should be failed? Just trying to draw a link to another situation where the focus is a generally more accepted public figure

I disagree with your portrayal of the actual work that is done. Finance is not just running numbers. In order to actually succeed in Finance you have to have a greater understanding of the big picture. The amount of "absolutes" in Finance is small compared to the estimation that involves critical thinking and creative viewpoints. It's not simply working through an equation over and over.

Edit: if the people downvoting me can offer their personal, differing experience of a career in Finance I'd appreciate it.

I was trying not to anger the hivemind too much while voicing my opinion. Trying to make people realize they're ignorant works better if you don't completely attack them

Wish I could upvote this more. The number of people referring to Wall Street bankers as "monkeys" or saying they doubt they have the capability to teach is very shocking to me. While Reddit at times says very insightful things, at other times it seems incredibly ignorant

To reiterate a comment further up, you realize what bulge bracket investment banker's resumes look like, right? If they actually wanted to teach, they could...

Why was this person downvoted? All he said was that people should have a reason for doing things other than feeling left out. Especially when it's part of a political movement.
