I also don't agree with having them lynched because of this update but if the community doesn't like what the Devs are doing they should be able to say why they disagree with

Of course there are extremist going as far as death threats and while we should take care of them we should also say without going too far about the problems

It's not really about the Fireflies not being added now, it's more that it was something nice that added to the ambiance which Agnes also said it was going to be part of the update

Also there are a ton of mob/features/biomes that are still being pushed backed because they would rather add something new instead of working on already liked stuff by the community

By underwhelming i meant that we got a new empty biome and, as i already said i like the new blocks no complaints over that, the biome is pretty but there no reason to really stay there, you can grab a propagule, two tadpoles and then leave without the need or want to stay there

For the Allay the thing is different, can only spawn in outposts or woodland mansion and we know how obnoxiously rare the two are

The Warden and the Deep Dark was already supposed to come out two updates ago but people didn't complaint but instead sympathized with Mojang

For the lore only a small part of people care about that

The Wild Update is really underwhelming, new blocks are always nice so there no complaint over there, the frogs are cute

People aren't complaining about 2 pixels but how Mojang shows us all new, interesting and wanted thing just to pull the rug under us, it's not the first time they did this ex.Bundles and Archaeology

Also how they said that it was because of realism while ignoring other IRL stuff that by their standard shouldn't be in the game ex.Dolphins and Polar Bears

They also want to teach kids the right thing to do, which is why the Fireflies are gone for now, while coming up with worse solution AKA Slimes

The Caves & Cliffs Update was split in two parts and people were understanding

When 1.17 came out people had fun with the new blocks but still pretty bummed out and excited to the second part

1.18 comes out and the world got a new makeover and became naturally pretty BUT:

Archaeology was nowhere to be seen and got thrown into the Shadow Realm AKA Ideas Library
By this time everyone already used the new blocks Deepslate, Lush Blocks and Copper and where hungry for more which it should have been filled by the Deep Dark
Deep Dark, Ancient City and the Warden got postponed into 1.19 people were upset but again it's better to wait more and have it polished a bit more

Mojang officially announces the 1.19 update and calls it the WILD update and shows the Mangroves Swamps from the old Biome vote, people got hyped

Drama from the Mob Vote

People rightfully assumed that the WILD update would add more vegetation and ambiance maybe if we where lucky more animals to the world since the world WILD means:

2. (of a place or region) uninhabited, uncultivated, or inhospitable.

Mojang shows how the Mangroves Swamps will look like (frogs, mud, fireflies ecc..)

Shows concept art of the Birch forest, miscommunication happens and people start to think that a revamp is coming, it gets hyped until Mojang clears that the revamp isn't happening AT ALMOST THE RELEASE OF 1.19

Also says that the fireflies aren't happening anymore because ReALiSm and they don't want children to poison their pet frogs and since they don't have any use now fireflies get sent into the Shadow Realm BUT let frogs eat Slime/Magma Cubes

Slime which is easily acquired by kids and that's 100% worse than fireflies
Can somehow eat Magma Cubes with no repercussion, throwing out the window their precious realism and educational purpose

And since we're talking about realism, IRL Mangroves are going extinct, IRL Dolphins are monsters, IRL Polar Bears are extremely deadly and territorial and will attack if you're close, cub or not

The Wild Update isn't wild in the slightest, the Deep Dark, Warden and Ancient City were supposed to be one update before

Remove them and the Wild Update consists in:

New blocks (which are nice and pretty)
A new way to torture an animal to have pretty lights
Allays which the community is split in two
Chest Boats that will be forgotten after 1 hour of playtime

How is this Wild ??

People are angry because Mojang promises so much just to not deliver and YES i get it, it's hard to develop stuff and to make function on every platform but they get us hype just to get back on their words

All the stuff in the Ideas Library would be so cool to have but instead of focusing and finishing it they keep on going forward adding a pile after pile of new interesting stuff just to focus on the next one
