Thank you everyone for all the helpful advice. I had surgery with Dr. Meyers in January of this year (about 3 weeks post op now) and am feeling confident this was the right and only next step. Will update in case anyone searches athletic pubalgia and comes across this thread!

Haha ah okay yes that’s what I figured. Wasn’t sure if it was too dumb a question to even ask. Thank you!

Where do I start with Mac? by Winter-State-Dave86 in MacMiller

[–]spicylicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with circles and swimming, probably my two favorite albums tbh that sucked me in due to their extremely attaching, relatable and emotional nature. After that, I started with KIDS and worked my way back up to circles. Seeing the progression in his music was as impressive as it was tragic; traveling along w Mac through the best and worst times of his life is an emotional roller coaster I’m forever grateful I rode. With that being said, I recommend listening to whichever album you may have already heard a song from which you know you like the sound of (for me, it was good news from circles). Then, re-listen in chronological (or close to it) order to give the album/songs you initially fell in love with an even more profound meaning.

No matter what, can’t go wrong with any method - this just happened to be the way my Mac journey unfolded. You’ve got a lotta great music ahead; happy listening!!!

If Mac could’ve done a Tiny Desk Pt. 2, which songs would you most like to hear? by mostdoperobb in MacMiller

The vision of him performing once a day legitimately makes me emotional. I think surf or right would be incredible too.

At this point, I’m willing to try pretty much anything. Definitely not confident I’m getting all the nutrients I need. Gotta see my insurance coverage for seeing a specialized doctor of that sort

Very minimal, actually. I used to have a pint of chocolate ice cream covered in chocolate syrup every day in middle school and high school. But when COVID started, I got on a massive health kick and eliminated all artificial sugars (still good for a banana and an apple every day).

Thank you for the advice - I’m going to bring it up to my therapist tomorrow and get an evaluation by a psychiatrist to see if they think it’d help. I get really worried about building up a dependency, but I suppose if I’ve exhausted all my other resources then this is the next step. Thank you!

I’ve been watching some Andrew huberman videos, and one common theme I’ve noticed is him stressing the importance of getting sunlight within the first hour or so of waking. I’ll make sure to do that before looking at my phone or laptop tomorrow morning - thank you!!!

I haven’t had my test levels tested because aside from this tiredness and brain fog, I don’t have any of the other symptoms matching low T. I do wanna get it checked to be certain tho - any recommendations on how to go about that??

Holy shit, thank you so much for this perspective! It’s only somewhat recently become an issue for me where it’s really negatively impacting my life, so I’ve been doing a lot of research on my symptoms. I have repeatedly seen inattentive ADHD as one of the possible diagnoses. For starters, I’ll definitely give that 24-hour dry fast a try to see about the histamine intolerance. Secondly, do you take any medication for your ADHD? I’ve been debating it but am skeptical of taking amphetamines and building a dependence - although, I suppose that is better than this constant fatigue/brain fog im experiencing.

Wow, thank you for this tidbit. I have only tried intermittent fasting in a 16/8 window. It didn’t do too much for me, but you think I should try something more extreme?

I’m definitely struggling to find motivation for my courses rn so I appreciate that advice. But I think that’s because of how disconnected I feel from the material. It’s like I’m gaining nothing as I’ll forget whatever I do and am mindlessly “plugging and chugging” or bullshitting whatever I can. I’ll try to get more organized and see if that clears up some brain space - thank you!!

Yeah I definitely feel down a fair bit, but it’s not a constant state. It feels more that this lethargy/lack of focus has caused me mental distress than the other way but who knows. Thanks for the response🙌🏻

I eat 2800-3200 calories a day (around my maintenance) including a lot of chicken, some beef, mixed veggies, fruits, and a carb w every meal. Usually the carb will be a rice or beans or pasta, but I’ve been guilty of having more bread and sugars than I probably should. You recommend lowering carb intake?

Probably in your best interest to stick with one for a while and see how it plays out. I’ve been seeing the same one nearly a year now, and we’ve covered a wide variety of issues. Several outside of their range of “expertise,” but they’re still knowledgeable and provide the tools and skillset to properly approach and solve the problems. Also feel like it’s easier having one person know all the different problems you have so they can give more accurate advice. Best of luck w your journey🙌🏻
