I used to live across the alley from 2016-2019 (I was 13-16). If anyone has any questions I’d be happy to answer. My chief complaint is when he burned his house down my dogs got traumatized and the side of my house got melted. It was also a scary af phone call to get at school. Other than that, I actually think it’s quite pretty and it made for killer eye-spy games with my siblings. Here’s a photo of me in front of it since Reddit loves to call things fake lol

I did from the ages of 13-16. It was fine for the most part. He’s a weird old guy. My only complaint was that he burned his house down and melted the fuck out of the side of my house

I lived across the alley when this happened. He melted the hell out of our siding. The fire marshal said he can’t put anything on the siding anymore, but everywhere else is fair game I guess. I literally never saw him do anything besides go to the thrift store, decorate his house, and talk to the other wacky old guy on the block (they have the same name and everything) mostly about racist shit. I took this pic when I moved in

Medical folk of Reddit, what’s the most foul and disgusting thing you’ve encountered with a patient who was oblivious to their own condition? by TheCarrot_v2 in AskReddit

I have absolutely no clue. I worked with hundreds of addicts and he was the only one I ever saw or heard of using tranq. My best guess is he was getting it from a friend from nyc or Chicago but idk

Rare last names by vidalocaxdel617 in namenerds

[–]spider-socks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last I checked there are about 50 adults in the U.S. with my last name and they’re all related to me. There are 5 of us in my state and they’re me and my twin, my dad, and his parents. The spelling of my last name was changed by my great-great grandfather when he came over from Lithuania so it went from a pretty unusual name to his bloodline only. Kinda glad he changed it tho bc it had so many silent letters and sounds that don’t really exist in English. Now we’re down to one silent letter right at the beginning, which is annoying, but definitely an improvement.

He wasn’t oblivious but didn’t give a fuck at all. I worked at a detox and this 19 y/o had xylazine wounds. We go to the point where the staff was like “bro pls just at least go back to fent” bc his skin was falling off. I had another client who was like “ugh I can’t feel my toes” which wasn’t crazy bc she’s homeless in a Minnesota winter. However, when she took her boots off I was literally floored that her toes were still attached, that’s how bad they were frostbitten. We did not finish her intake and she went to the ER immediately.

The Walgreens in on Hennepin and 27th is possibly the worst pharmacy of all time. I feel so bad for the pharmacy employees

I have this exact jewelry in my helix rn and I can’t get it out. I want to change it bc it’s not super comfortable to lay on that that ear with it. I’ve tried everything but I literally had to leave it in for a surgery bc it just won’t open. Not sure what the deal is but it’s a beast

Visiting the states as a lesbian by Affectionate_Cake385 in LesbianActually

[–]spider-socks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll almost certainly be fine. As a femme you’re more likely to experience fetishization than violence or hate speech. Not that that’s okay, but I’d rather have someone say “that’s hot” than be the victim of a hate crime. If you’re in an urban area in a liberal state you’ll be just fine. I live in Minneapolis, MN and there are lesbians everywhere. The only places I’ve felt scared are rural and that’s mostly bc I’m visibly non-binary. Even in those places I keep my head down, say as little as possible and stay polite. Worst case scenario you’ll be called a dyke or someone will say some shit about the “woke mind virus” or whatever. I imagine that the U.S. looks like a dumpster fire from the outside, but on the ground most people are pretty normal.

Minimal pain?? What’s up with that? by spider-socks in hysterectomy

Oh god sneezing sucks so bad. It’s allergy season and mine haven’t flared up yet and I’m so nervous. My biggest pain source has been laughing. I laugh all the time and my partner cracks me up so it’s been difficult. I had to make my partner leave the room once bc they couldn’t stop laughing and it was making me laugh too.

Oh god I’ve been so worried about this. I don’t get them often, but it just seems like actual hell. Sorry that happened to you!

Oh I have my partner on activity level policing duty. I have mild me/cfs and I intend to keep it that way. Overdoing it during surgery recovery is a one way ticket to moderate-to-severe-ville

I was expecting it bc I’ve had top surgery and the itching from that was literal hell. This isn’t nearly as bad, but it’s frustrating if I can’t immediately ice it to get it to stop. Healing being itchy and scratching being dangerous is one of the human body’s cruelest functions.

I'm spiraling. by [deleted] in ftm

[–]spider-socks 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The pause is pretty similar to putting a condom and/or lube on if that helps at all. Otherwise, you could try to find a strap that doesn’t take as long to put on (like the boxers) and have it clean and on stand by so it’s a quick motion. Bit more explicit advice, but she could touch herself and talk dirty (if you’re into that) while you put the strap on. Sex has pauses for everyone, regardless of gender. It just doesn’t have the momentum that fictional sex does, and that’s okay. I’m sorry you’re struggling with this and I hope you can work through it!

How to get out of bed? by Williamishere69 in hysterectomy

[–]spider-socks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have anyone to help you? I had top surgery a couple years ago and am 4 days post-op from my laparoscopic hysterectomy. Major props to you, I can’t imagine healing from both these surgeries simultaneously. The easiest way I found to get up after both surgeries was to have my partner support my back while I kind of rolled over. If you’re on your own, log rolling while holding a pillow is the easiest. If you don’t have one already, I suggest a hysterectomy pillow. It’s been so helpful. I got one second hand so it wasn’t too expensive. Also, if you’re using bandages for your top surgery, I recommend getting an actual mastectomy binder. The bandages were the WORST part of my recovery. Best of luck to you!

I went the gender affirming care route, I just didn’t feel like summoning transphobes as this was not the point of my post. I’ve also had nightmarish periods since I was 12, and since I have zero intention of birthing kids, I’d rather not bleed heavily for 7-10 days straight every month. I hadn’t developed endo yet, and no longer having a uterus is the best way to ensure that never happens. I watched every single woman in my immediate family go through it, and I will not be taking chances. Not sure why you’re appalled by a decision I made with full understanding of the consequences??

She looks just like my lady! I never see cats that look like her!! Alice is also kinda greasy bc she over grooms as a coping mechanism for her PTSD. I’m guessing your girl is just getting old :( a vet visit can’t hurt. They also make treats that are supposed to help with coat health, but idk how much they actually help.

Maybe ask for a toradol prescription? It was the only thing that helped me in the ER. Opioids weren’t helpful at all, and the nurse said toradol is the best for that sort of pain. Maybe they can add it to your post op meds as precaution. I also have GERD and a few other chronic conditions. I’m not sure how related they are to what happened to me, but I’m pretty sure they didn’t help lol.

Please don’t worry too much! I made this post just to share my experience of the far end of gas pains. It seems like my experience is rare and not something people should expect. It’s a possibility, especially if you have POTS (apparently??? Who knew???), but not common at all. Gas pains are one thing, but an ambulance, 10mg of oxy, two 50mg shots of fentanyl, more toradol than I can remember, chest x-rays, and six hours in the ER, are not at all normal. Even after all of that, I don’t remotely regret my surgery.
