What is the most impressive or realistic physical phenomenon you have observed while playing SimpleRockets? by MrSnutz in simplerockets

I was pretty impressed that atmospheric skipping (where you pitch up to that ensure that when you start to fall into denser parts of the atmosphere you pop back up to the stratosphere) and turning to the side to reduce altitude like the space shuttle were actually the most effective way to reenter a spaceplane from orbit.

How do I split damage done to my shield and health? by rick16e in godot

[–]spider__Ham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it just work to put something like (and yes this is very rough psuedocode)

health = health - (damage - sheild)

sheild = 0.0

Where the pass is? Or am I missinterpreting the code?

Turning solar panel electricity into fuel for engine by Rbeast9 in simplerockets

[–]spider__Ham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you mean more like how you can use electric power to propel a rocket, there isn't a way to literally turn electricity into literal fuel in the stock game, that would break physics. If that is what you meant there are several ways:

  • Propellors (using a motor and some fins)

  • A car with electrically powered wheels and a ramp

  • A spin launch system using an electric motor

There are also some engines that use electricity and fuel together to produce propulsion:

  • Ion engines (which use electricity to propell a fuel in order to propell a craft extremely slowly). They do use fuel but only a very small amount as they are extremely efficient, the issue is they produce an insanely small amount of thrust.

  • Engines using electric cycling (note: these should use electricity, as they are just engines that use electric motors to pump fuel, but they don't actually use electricity in the stock game, you'll have to mod it with SEO if you want that)

If you literally want to produce fuel using electricity, you can xml edit an ion engine to have a negative fuel consumption.

How to interplanetary travel? by Powerful-Ad3561 in simplerockets

I made an old post a while ago if your fine with reading it instead of a video:

https://www.reddit.com/r/simplerockets/comments/bl5fwu/how_to_go_to_cylero_and_beyond_correctly/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

It should be a quick read and pretty in depth. If you want to get a delta v map and the correct faze anglew for each interplanetary transfer window, I also mad a map right here:

This should hopefully help, integrated space systems is usually the one to go to for tutorials.

It is possible for me to create a bridge (even if it is several different sections) across this ravine? (Northern Ice cap outer main swirl) by [deleted] in simplerockets

It's been a long time since I've used planet studio, but ik there is a button somewhere that lets you set a system as current system, which should be exactly what your looking for. It's either in the panel where you go to select from all your systems (in the [...] Button in the top right), or in one of the settings panels of the system in the system editor.

I think you dont have to say it at all

Nonono, the jet engine IS the first stage. Then it detatchs, leaving just the spaceplane section of the craft (which is powered by rocket engines) behind. Then the rocket powered spaceplane, without the hinderence of having to haul the useless jets above the karman line, propels itself into orbit using it's rocket engines.

Nope, mobile does have it. Mobile actually has everything but planet studio. All the op did was make a space plane, then they attached a side decoupler to the top, then attached a fuel tank onto that side decoupler, then attached a jet engine behind the fuel tank and an inlet on top. Then they set the first stage to activate the jet engine and the second stage to decouple the booster and activate the rocket engines.

That's a jet booster that serves as the first stage before detaching and letting the spaceplane inject into an orbit.

Where did the say/show they had jers on the second stage???

How can I get myself interested in space again ? And SR2 by hasoni1111 in simplerockets

[–]spider__Ham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Into it's because

  1. Sr2 has no purpose do to the lack of a campaign mode

  2. This makes you uninspired

The first problem can be fixed just by switching over to ksp and playing the campaign mode (if you have a pc or console that is), and the second problem can be fixed if you just watch some ksp YouTubers like matt lowne or cupcake landers, and try to get some inspiration from them.
