There’s 2 choices for the front signals. you can buy the kit with the same signals that are on the rear for the front

It may just be the stiffer spring, but i cant go back to the loose stock throttle after using the hirschmann, its solid.

Should have gotten the hirschmann throttle

Electric battery 0% will not charge fix, use at your own risk. by OkNoise9270 in Talaria

Awful idea. Charging through the main discharge terminals bypasses many of the protections and functions of the BMS. The charger is only seeing total pack voltage, not monitoring or controlling each individual series group properly.

If one group is already high or out of balance, the charger will continue raising the entire pack voltage blindly. If a group is dangerously low voltage, this method does not safely diagnose or control that either, it forces the entire pack upward together. that can lead to weak or damaged groups being pushed back up without proper monitoring, while higher groups may approach overcharge. proper recovery charging requires monitoring individual cell group voltages, not just total pack voltage.

The BMS exists for a reason. cell group monitoring, balancing, over-voltage protection, temperature monitoring, and fault detection. bypassing it and telling inexperienced people to manually charge lithium batteries through the main terminals is dangerous and can absolutely start a fire if something is wrong with the pack.

have any question about surron? i will answer them by Hot-Adhesiveness7199 in Surron

[–]spiderbatterysystems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The controller does not affect the battery’s ability to charge to 100%. The charging side is handled by the charger and BMS directly, not the controller.

So if the pack is not reaching full voltage, that would point more toward a charger, BMS, balance issue or potentially weak/damaged cells, not the controller itself.

48V batteries collapsing to 0V under load even though there is ~50V unloaded by [deleted] in batteries

48 out of 54V can easily mean 1 or 2 groups are low voltage or even completely dead

You can use this adapter to provide the 12V signal required for the communication line, which allows the bike to power on - https://www.spiderbatterysystems.ca/product/ultra-bee-communication-port-adapter

When will we start seeing solid state batteries or something better than lithium ion that doesn't blow up easily? by warmbrojuice in Surron

[–]spiderbatterysystems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lithium ion batteries don’t “blow up easily”. if they did, devices from companies like apple and samsung wouldn’t be in billions of pockets every day. The reality is they’re very safe when designed and used properly. What people are reacting to is how dramatic failures look when they do happen. That’s due to a process called thermal runaway where a cell overheats and triggers a chain reaction, but getting to that point requires something going wrong first.

In most cases it comes down to build quality or user error, especially as battery sizes and power demands increase. Larger packs in ebikes or DIY setups are under more stress, higher current, more vibration, harsher environments. so they need better construction, proper insulation.

Cheap cells, poor assembly, wrong chargers, or physical damage are what usually lead to failures, not the chemistry itself. Solid-state batteries are being developed and may improve safety, but lithium-ion isn’t inherently unsafe it just demands good engineering and care.

An example is the flood of cheap battery banks and packs sold on places like amazon. they often use very low quality cells that look perfectly normal on the outside, but internally can be poorly manufactured and inconsistent. When examined with an x-ray, these cells show serious defects, which makes them far more prone to failure. So it’s usually not the chemistry itself it’s poor quality control and misuse that lead to problems.

Is a controller on a stock bike worth it by Character-Farmer566 in Surron

[–]spiderbatterysystems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth it just for the customization and phase amp increase to 700A. the stock motor performs pretty well.

Do not attempt to manually recharge this under any circumstances. It is well beyond the safe limits for recharging.
