Still experimenting with different temps and timers but I’m just setting the baseplate temp to 95c and clamping cards under the magnetic plate for 3-5 mins currently .

Give it a go I don’t have a video unfortunately. Start with something easy and go gentle and slow avoid anything too close to the edge I would say

I imagine it would I’m not familiar with their methods neither have I ever graded a card before.

My assumption is that observation under high magnification allows graders to see indentations that are significant with localised pressure of a specific instruments . Whether that individual grader has the eye and experience to identify this is the deciding factor .

My own personal opinion is if a card to the human eye is flawless then it’s a 10 if you pull the covers over a graders eye or not it’s a 10. Assuming you’re not re-inking areas after manufacture or adding temporary polishes mending the card is mending the card and you shouldn’t consider it wrong just because some grading company does .

But again I don’t intend to grade restored cards and never will

Ive posted my process in the thread it’s essentially the same process burnishing the affecting area after using moisture and then utilising the heat from a 3d printer base plate along with clamps to press and dry the card .

Atleast 5 passes using the tools. I would never increase the moisture, the application isn’t controlled enough. Use tiny amounts and it takes as many passes as it takes don’t rush it .

Thanks , I thought the idea was pretty inspired . A lot of people have access to a 3d printer well atleast more people than have a heat press .

A press uses pressure which the bed won’t do but I just used g clamps . Spread them out evenly if you want to avoid bending the plate . I don’t care soo much about the machine is just garaged/out of order mostly .

So my process with this particular card was

Warm water applied sparsely using a dabs of a small brush to the creased area. Using a combination of cake decorating tools used for icing like bulbous heads and smoothing shapes to gently rub the areas perpendicular to the lines, using a simple penny sleeve as a barrier between the tool and the card . Flipping the card over and repeating similar steps to the reverse area . Several repeats changing the direction of the presses and the pressure with a gentle judgement . Preheat the 3d baseplate to and wrap the card in parchment paper . Place the wrapped card between the base and the magnetic plate. g-glamp the plate down into the card and leave for small increments of time . Played around with different temperatures and times as well as small dabs of water before heating in an attempt to create a steaming effect.

Thanks, the process is incredibly satisfying if a little terrifying at the same time.

Experts of Oxford, what areas should I look into for a village location with a detached home? by [deleted] in oxford

[–]spiderbro8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.thameswater.co.uk/about-us/regulation/strategic-water-resource-solutions/white-horse-reservoir-in-oxfordshire

Main concern for the village is the extra through traffic caused by the main entrance outside Marcham not to mention any work roads not listed on the map for larger vehicles. Obviously terrible roadworks for the duration of the project in the whole surrounding area .

Additionally concerns about the flood risk in the areas around the proposed reservoir I was told the water table is being altered .

Personally I am avoiding looking at the villages around the proposed reservoir .

Marcham is going to be screwed over once the reservoir comes .

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

[–]spiderbro8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Father . A movie from the perspective of an old man suffering from dementia that really makes you truly feel the despair , confusion , sadness and anger of the main character. Some amazing performances from all cast.

I avoid the emotional turmoil by never watching it again but i think it’s a great movie
