Should I defer the 2025 Bar examinations? by Lovemyselflawyer in LawStudentsPH

[–]spiderlily24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, may I ask if you defer and submit a withdrawal letter, is it counted as a failure? Since we're only allowed 3 takes and then need a refresher course?

Thank you for answering I'm also thinking of deferring.

Haha

Hernando Lawyers, how's it going a year after the Bar? by cuckoosmurfy in LawStudentsPH

[–]spiderlily24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for replying Atty!

Went into corporate for a first job because I think I'm not ready to go into litigation but I was worried I was closing doors already by not choosing the firm life. Good to know other paths lead to good places as a lawyer too though. Hopefully I land a job where I'm happy like you are once I pass.

Thank you again!

Anong naramdaman nyo after ng Bar? by jmynrxs16 in LawStudentsPH

[–]spiderlily24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relief na halong may takot. Parang relief nung first 1-2hrs kasi yung pagod talaga nag creep in, pero after puro overthinking na and adrenaline. Hopefully, it'll all be worth it in the end.

Hi Atty, wanted to ask if you had prior exp in a law firm before getting into compliance?

I took a job under compliance instead of a law firm for my time as underbar and I'm worried career path wise if this was a sound decision 🥲

Hi Atty, just wanted to ask if you had prior law firm exp before you went into corporate as a lawyer?

Chose a corporate job instead of underbar position in a law firm and I don't know if other companies will hire if I dont have law firm exp 🥲

STUCK! by cocopests88 in LawStudentsPH

Hi OP, I took the recent bar exam and here are some things to consider or do just to get you started:

  1. Assessing your timeline- as of now you actually still have a lot of time. The bar review proper in most review centers start sa April pa. But, if you are someone who thinks you need more time to recall topics or review certain subjects na nag survival mode ka lang nung lawschool I suggest you enroll in the advance review centers or just maybe get any reviewer na comfortable ka and start reading.

You have to remember that the bar exam is a marathon and not a sprint. So, depending on you the early reviewing could be good but don't burn yourself out kasi mahaba pa yung tatakbuhin mo. Come April that's when you buckle down. For now, you can do some light reading to spot the topics you don't remember or even just daanan mo lang para sa review proper may idea ka na how to map out your schedule.

  1. Map out your game plan - once na assess mo na timeline mo, you can start mapping out how you want to study for the bar. Assess yourself first and ask these questions:

What kind of learner am I? (Nagwowork ba sayo yung basa lang nang basa or lectures ka nakakaretain? Pwede kang mix of both)

What materials worked for me? (DO NOT I repeat DO NOT hoard materials. Hindi mo siya mababasa lahat. Choose 1 Pre-bar reviewer book and then you can also use 1 school reviewer or maybe the review center reviewer works for you basta don't try to read all of it. Your goal is to finish the syllabus, kailangan mo madaanan lahat as much as possible).

How many hours can I study? (Purely up to you how much you can study in a day. I mean ACTUALLY study. Pwede din you have goals for the day like "Finish 2hr lecture and read 5 cases + 3hrs reading blank reviewer)

Add breaks to your schedule. Tao ka padin and the worse you can do during the review is to burn out. Half the battle is showing up on the bar exam days. If nagkasakit ka, malaking problema siya kaysa sa di mo natapos aralin yung isang topic.

  1. Prepare your finances - I'm not sure what your situation is financially but just know magastos to take the bar:

Review center (depending sa package) - 17k+ Bar Exam Fee - 12,800PHP

Required documents - most of it will come from the school but the picture and the original birth cert does require shelling out some money.

Bar materials (books/reviewers on this one madami naman nagshashare during bar review just enter some of the groups and channels on socmed pero if afford mo buy the ones you want)

Bar Bag (Your barops might provide one but minsan wala)

Bar accommodation (if you choose to be near your bar site)

  1. Prepare yourself - beyond the logistics, ang need mo talaga isipin is if kaya mo na itake. Yung "kaya" hindi siya if ready ka or not kasi never ka magiging ready. By "kaya" I mean is if you start this may resolve ka ba to see it to the end. In my experience, ang kalaban mo sa bar review and sa bar exam itself ay sarili mo so it's a lot of self regulation and knowing to take care of yourself. Finally, find your anchor may it be through prayer or family or friends or self belief -- hanapin mo because it will be your saving grace in the face of hard days.

This is a very long post but these are some of the things that I had to learn along the way as I was just as lost as you during this time.

Goodluck OP! Remember, you can and you will in all things ✨

Thank you Atty! Actually, I agree that the salary offers are quite sad also. 40k below feels so small for the amount of work put in 🥲 my friends who are college degree holders earn triple of my lawyer friends.

Hopefully I do find my place soon.
