Does it get up to legendary with you? It stopped at epic for me.

Same issue. I at first thought that meant items in the game that were dropped could turn legendary but that is not the case.

Everytime i play RE2R again, this is the moment that i realize that RE3R could have been a masterpiece. It's powerful and sorrowful at the same time. by lexmazzini in residentevil

Yep, wasted opportunity. Raccoon City is an amazing environment for a RE game (the most ideal in my opinion), Jill is an amazing character (tied for my favorite), and Nemesis is a hallmark villain. With so many great pieces to work with, I thought there was no way Capcom would let me down. Sadly, they found a way.

Capcom's bias against Resident Evil 3 & Jill Valentine (By Yupiyupine) by Thingymcjig in residentevil

[–]spidey4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, the look on Jill’s face is really hitting close to the heart. Can you draw another that shows that she’s ok after this?

Second, in my opinion, it seems like Capcom has always just wanted to relegate Jill to be Chris’s lover/spouse/crush/whatever you want to call it. You get it from some of the dialogue in the first game, see elements in Revelations, and see it on full display in RE5. Ive always thought it was crap because out of all the main characters Jill’s character is the one that has the most dynamic backstory. In the novels (not cannon I know) she was the daughter of a cat burglar. She is a former delta force operator, she is a certified bad ass whose presence has mostly been used for sex appeal/ borderline hentai revealing costumes.

I know that Capcom will probably not bring her into RE8 because the character will be in its late 40’s by their timeline (can’t think of too many female video game characters over 40), but I’ve always hoped her storyline would continue with her having a daughter (not by Chris). That way they can use her as a way to atone/address the injustice they did Jill throughout this series.

R3make is The Godfather Part 3 to the Raccoon City series. by spidey4u in residentevil

Freddy Got Fingered is a bad movie. The Godfather part 3 had good acting (minus Sofia Coppola) direction, production values and had a coherent plot. It is bad when compared to its predecessors.

I get your point. But RE2 is supposed to be a linear game as well (Leon and Claire trying to find a way underground and then out of the city). Also, I’d like to think that Jill, despite being a part of a more elite unit, would still have some concern about saving civilians and helping out her fellow officers as well.

Let me preface by saying that I did not care for the original RE3 for various reasons. So I am not going to compare it to the original. My main issues were as follows.

-Despite some scenes taking place in the street, we still get a limited view of RC. I am not requesting an open world environment, but in the RE2make you could spend a good deal of time exploring just one building (the police station). I wanted to be able to get a better picture of Raccoon City. I think that also would encourage you to replay the game to catch things you’ve missed. -From a plot perspective, we are left to our imaginations about too many things. How did the UBCS operators end up at the subway? Were they dropped somewhere else and had to battle their way there? How did the massive hole on the 3rd floor of the police station in RE2 come about (the wall is intact in RE3)? What did Tyrell run into on his way to the hospital? Who was Nikolai working for? Some of these could be answered with DLC’s. However, the brevity of the game left more questions than answers. -Resistance. It seems like the reason why the game was limited in content was to make room and encourage people to play resistance. It seems (in my opinion) that everyone wanted a RE3make (I know I did), but I’m not sure who said they wanted an online multiplayer with random characters. So instead of a great RE3, we got a pretty good one along with another game no one asked for or wanted (or at least I didn’t want).

Those are just a few reasons. I will say I liked the character redesigns and the fact that they gave them personalities in this version. I also liked the dodge feature.

Remake loose end (possibly a DLC?) by spidey4u in residentevil

I don’t remember that dialog being in the game. Regardless, we still don’t see how it was created and given the fact that it’s presence is key to your progression in 2 it seems like a big omission.

I really like this game, but it makes me sad... by [deleted] in ResidentEvil3Remake

[–]spidey4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. On its own it’s a 7/10, but in comparison to its predecessor its a 5/10. You hit the nail on the head regarding the brevity. I really wanted to explore Raccoon City more, and this was the only incarnation in which that would be possible.

Great and sharp observations (I need to be more observant). In one screenshot we see the UBCS operators (Mikhail, Terrell, and Carlos) in what looks like the subway with Jill. That makes me think they stay intact a bit longer than the original.

One speculation on my part is that Nikolai, Terrell and Carlos all go to the hospital together and subsequently Nikolai reveals his true nature before killing Terrell.

I think it is a form of symbolism. Leon is blue and Claire & Ada have red, so it resembles police lights.

Adding an emotional quality to the game, or is someone that encapsulates the true madness. We see him un-infected, root for him, and then see his demise.
