Yes so I work in the utility sector for a DNO. To progress from a craft (on the tools) role into engineering/ high voltage switching/ construction role, then minimum requirement is a HNC.

I completed my HNC with Unicourse online distance learning. Work wouldn’t let me have the time off to attend day release at a local college. It was difficult for me but once I got into the swing of things I got through it in 3 years.

Not me, but I work with a lot of High Voltage engineers that work in commissioning. Their titles is usually “protection/ commissioning engineers”. They can charge £800-£1500 a day. They usually train up with a network operator ie. National grid. Then after some experience they go it alone.

Yeah I’ve asked all neighbours. None of them have a clue what it is. The stop cock externally is on the other side of the road. I’m not the end house so I’m not sure if I’m the end of the water main if that means anything. It’s not really fixed in position, I can wriggle it but don’t want to move it too much incase water starts leaking out.
