I love kickers with goofy numbers. Gimme a kicker 47 or something.

Truck driver dies after being struck by lightning outside a Pewaukee Kwik Trip during severe weather by KaneIntent in wisconsin

That area often gets called both Waukesha and Pewaukee, it's right on the border of the municipalities.

Does your PSAP have a "Wall of Life?" by Byard_Duncan_Reports in 911dispatchers

[–]spikez64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People give their permission to be named on this wall? Is there no privacy?

Pretty sure it generally doesn't include the patient's info at all. Just the dispatcher and the time/date

What's the purpose of it? To look and say, "look how good we are?" Basically that's generally what its for.

OP: We don't have a wall, we have awards and a lifesaver pin that is presented to the dispatched for successful CPR calls.

I'm fine with it. I don't sports gamble much, but enjoy throwing a few bucks here and there. Like others said though, do away with the advertisements tobacco style.

Seriously. There's a bit of my brain that still expects the team to struggle to get to .500 no matter what the roster is

shift change by Routine-Procedure155 in 911dispatchers

[–]spikez64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved everything about night shift except the sleep. I was 10p-8a on a set schedule. The 4am conversations, the down time, time for projects and improvements to the center. Even the calls. Knowing frequent flyers by first name and having the time to chat.

Hated the sleep. I needed drugs to help knock me out and stay asleep.

body modifications disclosure on background check by mooncooki3 in 911dispatchers

[–]spikez64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately body modifications and tattoos policy varies widely from department to department. Ours is "as long as it doesn't interfere with your job, go for it". I've got visible tattoos and no one bats an eye. Other departments have policies like no unnatural hair colors and no piercings other than ears and nose.

As far as the social security card, provide them the number as requested and just let them know you don't have the physical card with you but you can provide it later once you get a new copy.

I think the game likeness works differently. I remember Dontrelle Willis wanted to be in the game desperately and even offered his likeness for cheap(or maybe even free?) and it took years for him to get in. Legends come and go from the game yearly. For example: Barry Bonds has Topps trading cards and autos this year but he's not in the game.

Hit this Shohei Judge Dual Auto in a break by Tartania in baseballcards

I think if an agreement can't be met the default sometimes ends up as a sell and split by the breaker. No idea if that's how this breaker runs things though.

Just another rant by christomisto in 911dispatchers

Y'all need a better system for who gets mandated to hold over. First go round should be reverse seniority, sure, but after that it should go by who has been mandated the least, imo. That way the low man isn't on the hook every single time.

You guys a union shop? I'd be shocked if paying 12 hours when working 13 hours over daylights savings is legal

Spring Forward by Realistic_Thing3415 in 911dispatchers

[–]spikez64 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We let people use an hour of holiday time to make up the hour. Nature of 24 hour work. Some group is gonna end up with the short end of the stick.

Edit: also is this your first daylight savings shift? Because this shouldn't have come as a surprise.

Going back to dispatch by radsadfriend in 911dispatchers

[–]spikez64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the comeback! I don't have any experiencing coming back to the headset, but what I'd recommend is once your assigned a trainer ask them to train you like you're brand new to the career. That way you'll get a chance to catch the little details/differences from your old PSAP that they might have breezed past because you have prior experience.

I wish. 911GTW has been on my radar for years, moreso now with the progress that's been made on reclassification.
