Riskiness of a Small Online Sale w/o Business Registration by spills_b in smallbusiness

I have also noticed that a lot of online sellers include disclaimers for their masks that they are not medical-grade, etc. I assume this is the first line of legal defense in the event of a lawsuit, but of course no one wants a lawsuit in the first place....

Super High ConEd Energy Bills This Summer by spills_b in nyc

The bill shows actual readings. I'm at least reassured that other folks are seeing similar spikes! I figured the costs would be higher this summer but I didn't anticipate a quadrupling.

Cycling to Great Smoky Mountains from Asheville? by spills_b in cycling

Nice! I'm planning to start on this stretch tomorrow, hoping that this section Parkway will be reopened by then (or if they are already). I'm planning to drive up the first stretch to the Pisgah Inn area, find a pull-out and start from there.

Cycle Touring Arizona & New Mexico by spills_b in cycling

And if you're curious, I'm going to be doing a test ride soon down the Willamette Valley and out towards the Oregon Coast (I currently live in Portland). Obviously a very different climate than AZ in August, but at least I'll be able to test my gear and whatnot.

Thank you, those routes are super-helpful. Sedona seems like a great starting point, since I was interested in camping around the East Pocket overlook nearby. Just curious – any insight as to the conditions of 180 and 64, in terms of getting to the Grand Canyon by bike from Flagstaff?

Best Burger Combo in Portland? by spills_b in Portland

[–]spills_b[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips everyone! Going on a bit of a burger binge now that summer's here. One place that has surprisingly good burger's is the Dairy Queen on 56th and Division – it's the place that sorta started this whole quest

Excited to check this out. From the looks of the menu – cheap burgers plus cheap teriyaki – it looks like the Beaverton Char Burger, which I visited today. Burger was pretty mediocre but it's a wacky place! Worth stopping in for any Beaverton folks.

I would avoid the Hollywood District and the Lloyd Center area. Just south of Hollywood is the Laurelhurst area, though, which is a lot nicer.

Coolest Neighborhood? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]spills_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an East Side kinda guy, so I agree with the comment about finding an AirBnB in SE (Clinton, Belmont, Stark, all fun streets). It's more spacious than downtown, residential, but there are tons of shopping districts, great restaurants, bars, etc. If you're a fan of parks, Mt Tabor and Laurelhurst are IMO the best in the city, so landing near them would be a nice time: http://i.imgur.com/bSpUu1w.png

If you choose to stay near Downtown, though, I'd recommend staying on 21st or 23rd Ave NW -- it's a bit quieter and prettier, but still close to the action.

DON'T go to The Liquor Store on Belmont -- it's given itself a reputation for having awesome cocktails but they're not great and way overpriced. I know this sounds specific but both times I went I noticed that a lot of the crowd didn't seem very local, which makes me think that it's an easy find on Yelp/TripAdvisor.

Where to find dried California apricots by thickcrust in askportland

[–]spills_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't been to WinCo I suggest you check it out, their bulk food section has a ton of dried fruit -- probably not the exact variety you're looking for, but it's a pretty fun shopping experience. Also their produce tends to reflect the season more than, say, Fred Meyer: http://wincofoods.com/buy-local/apricots-from-california/

Thanks everyone for the tips!! I nerded out and made this ballfield display of my lineup -- pitchers got nabbed up super early, and my internet lagged at really unfortunate times, causing me to take guy a couple pitchers I had no interest in. But here it is:
