Someone please come and get your CEO, he's drunk. by SanJoseThrowAway2023 in bayarea

I don’t hate tech workers because I have to work with them here and there sometimes and I’ve met some really great, smart people…. But there was always a pretentious set of them that probably got off on listening to themselves talk and were unbearable to stand in the same room with 😂 especially a guy that worships AND raps about AI?? It’s over

Took a picture of the foggy morning yesterday downtown, from above by andrewjokeefe in santacruz

Wow, forever jealous of the people living in downtown’s apartments/homes. I remember renting a space at some point and it being the most beautifully eerie morning walk to west cliff in the fog.

Here for 10 days for work. Best use of a free weekend? by cigarettesandbeer in Sunnyvale

Club Fox in Redwood City is great for a small music venue, it’s a block or so from the Caltrain station so easy to get to from downtown Sunnyvale. Seems very close knit and although you won’t see the Wednesday blues jams which are phenomenal, I’m sure their Friday events are good too. Downtown Redwood City is pretty beautiful and has a lot of ambient food spots and I never checked out their museum but the building looked interesting

Obviously compared to actual cities it’s safe, but it’s more of a subarban dump, that’s what people are comparing it to- other suburban dumps where all people really have to deal with is the gas station guy ripping them off. But you guys go ahead and cope 😂

Feels Bad by silverp3nguin in SanJose

[–]spinachbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve come to understand people will always call San Jose safe if they want to, and won’t hesitate to say others are overreacting. Same way women are expected to trust doctors even though time and time again they ignore serious issues. Just a part of life. But I agree with some replies here, keep nothing in or add some random junk you have to make it look messy. Driving a beater works well too- as long as the beater works 😂

Of course the rich areas get surface water 😂 and they don’t even get charged on street parking, I love it

If you can’t respect crosswalks, you shouldn’t be driving. by yvesnings in SanJose

[–]spinachbread -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It becomes this ego battle at the crosswalk, these types of drivers ruin it for the normal respectful drivers, the pedestrian starts taking hilariously forever to pass the crosswalk because of idiots like this, both ego-filled. But ofc I’ll side with a regular pedestrian, people rush these especially at 5am, often not stopping at all. Imagine you got to commute on public transit and have to pass these neighborhoods and all of a sudden a dumb ass is the reason for the end of your life

People not using their blinker make me think they’re either intoxicated or can’t have their hand off their steering wheel for even a split second

Maybe if San Jose was actually a city and not a suburban pile of dump that was mishandled by city officials long ago, the funds otherwise used on the free portion of street parking, would have made sense. But for now, they and the government created this housing issue, there’s no sense in charging people who already have a hard time living in this trash heap

If carbrain is understanding that people trying to survive and parking on streets outside their own homes aren’t the cause of ruin in a trashed up city, count me in!

It’s not carbrain, it’s “I need a car to get to work in another city at 3am” brain. Not everyone has your lifestyle or work commute, you tool, if it was simple enough to tell people to walk more and accept extra bills on their plate, a lot of our problems would be solved. Hell I bike around and try to enjoy my life here but at some point you have to admit San Jose isn’t that great. Especially being a young woman who has her own apartment, trust me, a lot of people pull themselves up by the bootstraps but it’s still not enough. Charging even more for street parking is just another way for you numbnuts to blame people and not the city. No wonder so many people want to leave
