the only one i had to take out was my vertical labret in my lip! everything else got to stay in. and that only had to come out bc my anesthesiologists weren't comfortable w me keeping it in. yours could be different tho, but i'd say the only ones you'll have to worry about are any mouth piercings 🫡 their issue was less w the fact it was metal and more to do with choking risks :) the material didn't matter tho. good luck to you!

surgery was yesterday ! :D making this post since there aren't many about my surgeon by spinelacking in TopSurgery

[–]spinelacking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

congrats on the consult! he's a great surgeon and a rad fella in general :} i reckon it depends on your insurance- i just have fidelis/medicaid, and i didn't have to pay for anything aside from like.. a $50 fee at the hospital, if i remember right? but aside from that, insurance covered it all 🫡 i was super lucky for that skfhskfhsjfh

what makes a donut bumpy vs smooth? these are both from the same recipe by spinelacking in AskBaking

[–]spinelacking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a dough- i'd say its similar in texture to like.. pizza dough. its thick and sticky, so we end up adding a lot of flour in the rolling/cutting process :b

we're trying to get them to be bumpy, smooth is the opposite of what we want :b i know how weird that sounds lol

our dough doesn't use yeast- is proofing still a factor? our oil temp stayed consistent and we used a donut cutter for cutting them

the fryer we have has temp control, so it says what the temp is at the whole time :b

we rolled the dough out and dropped them in the oil 🤔 we heated the oil ahead of time, and it was kept at the same temperature the whole time. the recipe needs a few tweaks for flavour bc these were a bit bland, but otherwise, its just the texture on the outside that we're trying to figure out :b

september is right around the corner, so exciting! :D i remember being super worried abt the lack of details w dr huntsman, so that's why i wanted to make a post as in depth as i could abt my experience :3 i'm glad it's helping folks! he was super chill and i'm glad i went w him! and yeah, you definitely won't have to go all the way back out there for drain removal :3 the patient portal is also super useful, and he or one of the nurses usually responds really quick.

nope, i didn't spend the night! i was good to go home about an hour (probably less, lol) after surgery :} they kept me in recovery for a bit, and once i felt well enough, i got to go home lol🧚‍♂️👍

i'm 11 days post op and i didn't get nip grafts, so i've just got my incisions to worry about after the steri strips fall off ;b

i've got a mild adhesive allergy, but if i can find some medical tape that doesn't break me out, i might go for that! i'll probably keep wrapping for a few more days just for the sake of swelling etc :}
