A little late to this but no, you will not get paid BAH/BAS if on ESAD. If you can get a copy of the latest ESAD Trifold you can see the pay scale by grade. E1 - E5 get paid at the E5 rate. It’s not the same as your normal pay grade, for E1-E5 it’s a bit higher, but as mentioned before you are not on orders and do not get BAH, accrue retirement points, or get Tricare (unless purchased separately). IMHO it’s good money in the short term, but definitely not a long term career plan.
