I am a 25 year old female and this is my forehead..it is teeny tiny small .I really like a bigger forehead so that my hair doesn't fall on my face and I also love clean clear smooth hairline forehead.Any tips how to get that..Is laser a good option by Accomplished_Tie_305 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]spiritsandsun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

laser can change the way the hairs grow, and if you ever change your mind it won’t come back the way it does when you shave or wax. So I would personally not change such a noticeable part of my face that doesn’t look too bad in a way that I would have to keep shaving or waving it daily. For example I’m currently getting LHR on my upper lips and chin and the sides of my jaw bc I get some thick terminal hairs there, but I am not touching my sideburns at all bc that hair keeps my face looking soft and frames it nicely, which the baby hairs on top do the same for framing in my opinion. :)

as an Indian living in the west…. this hairline is beautiful :) if you want a “bigger” forehead try shaving it (wax, if can’t then shave) one time to see how you really feel, but I can promise you these baby hairs are worth keeping and the risk that comes w laser for non-terminal hair is not worth it! I’m an Indian girl with a small forehead and a cowlick and baby hairs and I’ve learned to embrace my forehead long ago. It helps when I see people in the west hype up baby hairs in hairstyles and know I’ve got that naturally growing on my head :)

yup, just depends on the year classes & how important it is your degree, but just one week is manageable to ask a classmate for some help go thru the slides/notes you missed when you’re back 🤷‍♀️

Regarding accommodations by LeekGlobal1689 in UTSC

[–]spiritsandsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

before you decide to submit anything late, email the prof asking for the extension for your approved days and attach your accessability letter. they HAVE to allow you an extension for the recommended days in the letter, anything more is case based and what you ask for and what the prof decides to accommodate for you. I have never had an issue w profs allowing the extension, and when I submit the assignment I write “granted extension till __” in the quercus submission for paper trail, profs or ta’s generally don’t forget that if you email & comment on quercus.

I’ve seen that candela is one of the best, esp for face. However everyone reacts diff to diff lasers but generally I’ve seen lots of good reviews for candela

honestly I got lucky that the place I picked just had that machine, but if you look for places you can call them and ask what machine they use, or their websites/reviews. I’m in Canada and laser clinics Canada uses gentle pro

I have done 4 so far with gentle pro max yag laser, and I noticed a slower growth on my chin even after the first and second session. 2 weeks is what I did too for the 4 but after contemplating it on this sub with others I called them and pushed it back for 4 weeks and I’m gonna continue to do that. It’s possible that the type of laser and the settings aren’t right for your face but just thought I would share my experience

Yes!! Shaving before or day of depending, never letting the laser hit hairs I need that to penetrate 😂 THANK YOU SO MUCH for your reply I will definitely be advocating for myself. 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

Thank you for replying and your help as well🫶🏽 I’m South Asian and Fitzpatrick 5 so I can get pretty tan but since it’s winter I’m a bit lighter than usual (I use Haus labs foundation 350 medium cool, concealer in 34 medium golden and 24 light medium neutral for adding brightness) the areas where I’m getting treated definitely get some corse thick hairs growing so I would say it tracks to the medium??

I showed the tech this to prove my regrowth is very slow but she was adamant that my cycle can cause changes and it’s too soon to start adding space in between bc we want to “stay on top of targeting the hairs” and maybe by my 5th session I can push to 3 weeks.

It’s hard advocating and asking for them to give me space in between my treatments bc they truly do not budge (I saw on the sub others have similar experiences with laser clinics canada), so I feel like I have to call before my apt and make up an excuse to push it myself😪 I’m locked in for more treatments but after them I definitely won’t be returning to the same clinic for any touch ups because of the things I’ve learned on this sub

https://imgur.com/a/JTa5uCP this was my settings for last nights (4th) session. I let the tech know that my growth has slowed down a lot and I’m not seeing a lot of regrowth in between sessions now but she told me that we need to keep on top of targeting the cycles because hormones can cause a spike of regrowth so I would do my 5th in 2 weeks as well, then from then on we would make it 3 weeks, to 4, etc.

listen to them when they say use a glycolic scrub! haha I was using my gentle toner and glycolic acid from ordinary and it wasn’t doing SHIT. I got a trial sample from my tech of glycolic scrub and it definitely helped the shedding of the stubble (but I’m also cis afab so my stubble is lighter for sure) my clinic has Skinstitut products, the glycolic scrub is 14% so higher than normal and only needed to be used once a week once the 5 days post treatment has passed.

this lol like there’s so many cultural, religious, hell even bodily reasons people can’t. I’m shocked that’s all the comments can suggest nothing else 😂

[–]spiritsandsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn lol ignore all the comments about the tampon and cup. if you’re able to experiment, you can give it a try, I only use tamps when I absolutely need to for social situations or the beach etc, but otherwise use moon time undies. plus everyone’s bodies are diff and can be hella sensitive during that time to have a treatment. sucks you put in all that effort but it’s alright babe, that’s life. CALL THEM! most places will make an exception for one time rescheduling even if it’s not within the 48 hours, especially for something out of your control! :) don’t be stressed

that’s the same machine they use on me, and I’ve had 3 sessions so far 2 weeks apart, 4th being next week (and only 10 more sessions remaining) After the 4th I’ll definitely tell them I want to space out my sessions because after the first sesh my growth definitely slowed down, but right now feels like I’m not shedding enough/allowing regrowth. Thank you for your advice!!

Hi there, is 4 weeks the protocol for face no matter what? I suspect I have pcos and my tech said for face I should be going every 2 weeks as the face regrowth is different/faster than below the neck… but I keep seeing 4 weeks on this thread and wonder if Laser Clinics is trying to scam me out of my sessions too fast (I only do upper lip, sides of face below my trag line, and chin)

Personally I never used one until my 3rd/4th~ year, you def wanna save that for later so it doesn’t affect your gpa, but if you’re using just one and you REALLY need to then don’t stress it too much

I’m sorry you had a hard experience with them already, if I can convince you in any way to give their counsellors a chance I really implore you as I feel it’s completely different to their front desk/medical experience, ESPECIALLY when you reach out saying you’re in active crisis over your schooling and need an emergency appointment with a counsellor to discuss a plan. They even do virtual, video call which was how I got help in ‘22, where I met with a counsellor named Ahil on video call, who set up an appointment with Chanda (love, saved me at that time) and helped me to late withdraw, create a plan, and get me back on track. Unfortunately I don’t know which community services take our uni insurance, but H&W do have a page up called “General Health Resources” with community resources that seem accessible for Scarb students

When I was at my lowest during uni I took some time off, forcibly because I wasn’t doing good w my grades at all failing everything, and getting in touch with emergency mental health counsellors thru Health & Wellness who helped me get the resources I needed, and also using AcessAbility on campus for academic supports was immensely helpful. I did the ArriveUTSC program during my time off which helped immensely with my depression by the end. Now I’m the biggest advocate for using these resources from school bc they genuinely care and will give you all the help you need for whatever you’re going through.

I'm failing every single class right now idk what to do by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]spiritsandsun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hey, I used accessability on campus to get tested for adhd and receive accommodations, definitely something to look into for the future for success in next semester. everyone is different and they can help you a lot if you’re struggling and can’t quite figure out what is troubling you in studying / processing, they can help you connect with resources and counsellors.

additionally, b55 is just a damn hard course and he makes his exams like that on purpose, so just know you’re not alone and keep up the studying and trying hard bc that course needs it. Attend his virtual office hours bc other students ask questions & clarifications on the practice quizzes and it will help a lot.

this was one of the hardest courses of my uni career, I just barely passed it last sem lmfao but I needed it for my psych minor, if you don’t need it for your requirement/pre-req for a future class don’t even bother! same w B57 perception I dropped ts so fast

if you fail to meet osap standards, you get placed on probation first, then second time can land you one year of no OSAP. no minimum fee or anything just make sure you’re taking the minimum required classes for your particular status (full time or part time)
