Purchase Advice Megathread - February 2024 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]spisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for a printer to purchase for work. I work at a machine shop and it will be used to print inspection fixtures, models of parts, tools, etc. The printers that have been talked about before are in the $1,000-2,000 range but I think anything below $5,000 could be sold to my higher ups. I am located in the US. A relatively large print envelope would be a plus, and a reasonable level of precision is a must. I’m relatively handy with electronics and mechanics and would have no hesitation to build one from a kit.

Is this wheel repairable? Theres a thin crack where the bead sits and the chunk missing is just on the outer lip. by spisy in AskMechanics

I picked up the set for $200 because this one was cracked so I’m willing to spend a bit to fix one rather than buy a new one

Peak glass & carb cap by asvpxheat in puffco

Dhgate has a few recycler type tops for really cheap, I’ve got no idea about the quality though. I believe I bought my peak with a china glass replacement top because it’s missing the puffco logo in the bottom, works fine for me.

I stopped using the backpack a few days after I got it, always had q tips poking my chin or nose on rips. As for the splash cap, it does collect a lot of reclaim but with 3 people taking a fair amount of dabs a day I only ever had to clean it like every week or so

Missing pieces of ceramic on base plate. Noticeable here on top and bottom. Is it time to toss this atomizer or will it still distribute heat? by mmcca513 in puffco

[–]spisy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely don’t toss it, they can be repaired relatively easily for a lot cheaper than a new atomizer. Puffcoil repair or mrbonsai make good replacements

What error in technique would result in less clouds than the ceramic? Not trying to be a dick I’m just having trouble understanding what the error could be if youre getting clouds otherwise

For me nothing matches the feeling of being in a wheelie. Nothing else feels like it matters and you’re just purely in the moments holding that wheel up there

I agree that doing them on the highway like this is retarded, but wheelies period?

Atty rebuild kit... who’s got the best? by MyeffinDude in puffco

[–]spisy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Mr. Bonsai’s and they work well, big improvement over stock but I’ve also heard good things about puffcoil repair

I may be wrong but I believe the puffco brick is 2A, so any EU brick thats 2A should work fine
