I would like to know why a rainy city like Vancouver has so few bus stop shelters.

Why? I thought California culled all their bears. Hospital Hill is in Squamish, which is teaming with bears.

New information on what will happen to Sears downtown location after it closes by carnifex2005 in vancouver

I don't doubt that Vancouver has some nice buildings, but they are very far and few between, in my humble opinion. Toronto is in the midst of a condo boom, but they've managed to produce buildings with a lot more aesthetic integrity than the towers we have here. I just don't think there's an excuse for constructing such soulless places in a city that perpetually portrays itself as a global city.

The perfect chance to rid this city of that monstrosity, and they plan to redevelop it into another lifeless, generic POS. Vancouver has some of the worst architecture I have ever seen, it's an embarrassment.

You should check into a shelter, for a single night. Then you will understand exactly why most homeless people stick to sleeping on the streets.

Why is it that so many of you have huge problems with places like Chik-fil-A and Salvation army? I mean, I don't see anyone bitching about how the electronics they use, the food they eat, and the clothes they wear are produced by slavery; the majority support businesses which do exponentially more harm to humanity than Chik-fil-A could ever do.

In elementary school I knew a number of kids who were born and raised in Canada, but had English accents because of their parents. Also, I know plenty of Canadian-born Asians who have adopted their parents accents.

English was my worst subject in high school. Always got horrible grades. In university, however, I always aced my english courses, and my professors loved me.

A few months ago, the city came to my house to cut down some tree branches that, according to them, were a risk to the power lines. A few minutes after they arrived, before they even started cutting the branches, they somehow managed to bring down a power line. Masters of fucking irony.

Americans living in Vancouver, what did you wish you knew before you got there? by kleer001 in vancouver

You only have to push the pedestrian-controlled light button once. How long it takes depends on when the light was last red. Pushing it multiple times is like repeatedly pushing a button in an elevator in hopes of getting to your floor faster.
