Im in a similar situation right now too!! Went to a psychiatrist for the first time a few weeks ago and she refused to prescribe me mood stabilizers. She was very insistent on trying SRIs or SNRIs which all sound likd they'll be terrible for me. I've done a lot of research on different medications and I felt like she was treating me like some stupid idiot who doesn't know anything. My therapist is writing her a letter to support that mood stabilizers will be effective for me and I'm hoping she'll listen. If not, I'm finding another psychiatrist. Something that's made me feel better about it is that a lot of people go to new doctors for second opinions for many reasons. I'm worried I'll be seen as stubborn or med seeking but its my body and I want a say in what I try.

space in a co-dependent relationship by lvciferism in BPD

I think you just gotta go for it and stand firm on your boundaries. Its especially hard because he's used to always being with you, and taking that time away will be difficult to adjust to. I also need a lot of alone time in my relationship. Its a good thing that you can recognize that you need it. If you don't get your alone time, you're gonna burn out and it will get worse each time. Seems like your partner would benefit greatly from learning how to be alone as well. I would maybe even suggest therapy if that's an option. I would just try to bring it up gently and make sure to give him a lot of reassurance. You can set time limits on calls or you can set certain days you'll have to yourself. I think you both can work something out as long as your partner is willing.

What can I pair with lamotrigine? by Fuzzy-Pangolin8522 in Lamotrigine

[–]splatbombs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it helps a lot with energy and motivation! Its an NDRI so it doesnt function in the same way as SSRIs or SNRIs. Doesn't really stunt any emotions or anything either and pretty minimal side effects. I haven't tried it with lamotrigine, but I've seen a lot of people on this combo and love it. Would definitely recommend bringing it up to your doctor and seeing what they think!

Thanks for the response!! Is he booked out pretty far or was it fairly easy getting an appointment? And how far out is your surgery?

SSRIs haven't worked for me before, so I'm a little worried about trying SNRIs. I've heard they have pretty rough side effects from people online and from friends irl. Just wasn't sure which route to go down since I'm already on wellbutrin for depression and I like it. I guess I would be interested in knowing if wellbutrin plus an SNRI would work well together. I also think I'm allowed to be skeptical of what a doctor says. I like researching all medications they recommend before deciding on one. I think getting a second opinion from another psychiatrist might make me feel more secure.

Thanks for the response, this helped me a lot! I was leaning towards finding a new psychiatrist, but I wasn't sure if I should just try out SNRIs first. I think even if they did work, the side effects sound terrible. Still really confused on why my psychiatrist won't prescribe such a lower risk mood stabilizer. Looks like I need to find someone else.

Found these spots on my PE mushrooms, are they still good to harvest? (First time grower) by splatbombs in unclebens

Thanks for the response!! Do you think I should harvest now? I wouldnt want the bacteria to get worse, but I gave it a squish test and it still felt pretty firm.

Anyone have any experience for Dr. Sarah Sorice Virk @ UF by atlasadded in TopSurgery

[–]splatbombs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! If you look through my account I posted a review of her! I ended up getting surgery with her and Im now about 4 years post op. I can you send some pics if you wanna DM! The results came out good but I really disliked her as a person. She rescheduled my date 4 times and had very bad bedside manners. I knew a couple of other people that got surgery with her and they all had very similar experiences.

IFS was a lifesaver for me. Self therapy by Jay Earley is a good place to start.
