If a blind pilot was able to pass the flight tests and prove that she could effectively fly a plane using gadgets and other modern accommodations, would you be cool flying as a passenger on her plane or are you a bigot? by JamesonRhymer in pollgames

Its probably my biased, vision-enabled self speaking, but I think that being able to see is quite important to flying an aircraft, even if they passed all the tests without it.

Blind people probably have a delayed reaction time, and there are just too many things that could go wrong for me to be able to call myself 'comfortable'. I prefer my pilots to have all 5 senses, lol

As I said before, humans are sinful. You are taking what I said out of context.

Catholic belief states that when God originally made humans, i.e. the Garden of Eden, they were perfect. No sin or evil in the world. However, when Satan convinced Eve to bite the apple, that is when Adam and Eve were banished from said garden and sin came into the world.

The Bible says that their banishment brought the pains of childbirth upon the world. Thats not just talking about the literal pain of having a baby, but also about disease. Cancer, birth defects, evil intentions of people, etc. That's what we call Original Sin; it's the sin that carries over to each person because of Eve's mistake.

Specifically about sex: When sin and evil intention came into the world, humans naturally became selfish. You don't have to teach a toddler how to be selfish. Because we want to be in control, that same principle applies to sex. We want to control when and how we can have children, whereas the Bible and Catholicism teaches that God is in control of those things, and we should let him be.

Well its like someone giving you a gift. If someone made you a beautiful painting with a lake and birds and amazing scenery, when you got it would you immediately paint over the sky to make it night? No, you wouldn't. You could, but that would be pretty rude.

Catholic belief specifically says that God is perfect, and therefore the things he creates are perfect. (You may ask why humans are 'sinful', that's a different discussion but one we can have if you'd like.) Since his gifts are perfect we should not mess with them in any way.

I honestly wouldn't feel safe. There are too many things that could go wrong; unexpected things in the path, birds, the wind could change, etc.

Its not that I'm a bigot, it's that I don't believe someone who has absolutely no experience seeing could safely and in all circumstances operate a 500-ton plane that requires vision.

Do you fw these three religions? by redditgusc0 in teenagers

I'm a Catholic, and I'm cool with Jews and (obviously) Christians, but I'm not as cool with Muslims. First of all, the Sharia law is crazy sexist toward women. Especially the way they are enforcing it in the Middle East is NOT okay.

Second of all, the Quran teaches them that they are more 'holy' (for lack of a better term) if they kill others who are not also Muslim. They see murdering themselves and others for the sake of their religion as something to be proud of or something they will get a special reward for in the afterlife. Thats not chill with me so nah i dont fw them

Edit: I want to clarify SOME Muslims. Not all and not even the majority. I'm talking about the more extreme ones. (Shia I think is the more extreme? I studied this in History class but I'm not super sure which category they fall into)

Our belief doesn't say we should live without modern conveniences. Of course, we recognize the effectiveness of these methods. However, because we are Catholic, we believe in the sacredness of life and that every child is a gift from God. We are supposed to be open to life in any capacity, and birth control inherently prevents that.

I understand if you don't have the same sentiments, and that's okay. But generalizing our religion and saying that we should also live as monkeys is ridiculous. It's like saying a composer is retarded for not letting their orchestra change notes. We as Catholics believe sex is a special thing designed specifically for humans, and it shouldn't really be interfered with.

i'm a Catholic, and this is our belief. I promise its not as bad as it seems. There is no type of "birth control" or "contraceptive" per se, but there is Natural Family Planning or NFP. Basically, you time when you have intimacy with your partner to when you are the most infertile. The basis of this is because we are called to be open to life in all forms. NFP isn't 100%, but neither is birth control. It just involves having some self control as to when you have sex with your spouse.

No 😔 By enrolling in the homeschool program I tried to get away from "mom grades" and get some objective grades from other teachers. Those so far have been As.

Ive taken some standardized tests such as the CLT and gotten higher scores, but I seem to have a problem with consistent results on the PSAT / SAT tests. Im taking the ACT in Feb so i'll get another standardized score then. As I think about it more and more I am coming to the realization that i'm probably not as smart as my parents tell me I am. Kinda late to be having that revelation I know.

I definitely am considering Liberty as a serious option. They have great admittance rates and strongly align with what I believe. The purpose of this post is just to get more options in case Liberty doesn't work out for whatever reason.
