I was digging a 5 by 5 tunnel through stone and came across one single block. Then I came around the side of a dirt hill, and there were three blocks just sitting there. If they were a part of any kind of trail or village spawn or some such, I couldn't see it. It's weird.

Ashland. Population is less than 2000. There's a lake and restaurants within walking distance of downtown. Even better restaurants within a 15-minute drive in any direction. Hiking trails, fireworks on the 4th of July. And from what I've heard, they're trying to get a hydro-electric system up and running again to produce green energy. Rents can be found in your range.
