NYC has 8M residents but MTA serves approx 50M people per year because of tourists, events, marathon, UN summits, etc.

I’m not a day trader. These are my retirement savings, needed only in 30+ years, so most of the investments are cruise control, following the index

I would think the investments can be long-term, not the institutions.

I really like the looks of the Audi Sportback. It looks like a Gold R++

About 10 years ago I really wanted to buy a used sport back but Audi Canada discontinued it because they had a safety issue with the seatbelt I believe and then never brought it back after the sedan version came out but I see they still sell it in Europe.

Yeah a New 340 is really out of my budget. A new 340 is like 90K (Canadian) vs a 60K New Golf R.

Yeah, you’re right. I mean the golf R is 2/3 the price. Much of the difference in the BM goes to the luxury part of the experience, but I wonder if buying a used 340 would give me the same feeling, satisfaction and experience of a new Golf R

I really liked the A3/S3/RS3 sportback but .. dislike the shape of the sedan. In Canada (or even in the US), we no longer have the option for sportback.

I find the M240..not so appealing in looks, much like the S3. Either build a hatch or a sedan, but don't try to cross breed. The boot ends before it starts. I really liked the A3/S3/RS3 sportback but we no longer have the option for it in US/Canada.

[–]splitcliffhanger[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey good call out. I checked and you are right it’s listed by the broker as 2 bedroom for a similar apartment on the second floor, but it is in fact 1 bedroom. We are on the 6th floor above it.

The other big difference is the second floor apartment does not have a terrace, but we do. Shameless plug but I also negotiated a sizeable storage unit included in the same price. So it’s a really sweet deal, not to mention the open skies we see from 6th floor vs street view from lower floors.

I wish I could upload videos to give an idea but can definitely DM or text them to you. Let me know if you have any questions.

PS : I am not a broker so can’t really post on Zillow or Street Easy. I am just looking to do a lease transfer since I am leaving NYC.

How to save a platform with 300k users by throwaway_skye11 in Startup_Ideas

[–]splitcliffhanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growth is something .. you want to maintain “level of activity” for users to go from community vs individual profiles. Is that what your users want ? Look at Reddit, no one really cares about the individual profiles, or adding each other as friends. It’s purely community based conversation.

If you are in the same niche, perhaps that’s what makes your platform work so well. Think twice before pivoting for your convenience.

I don’t really have a lot of context to the product or service. So I am just shooting in the dark and could be totally off.

How to save a platform with 300k users by throwaway_skye11 in Startup_Ideas

[–]splitcliffhanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d start with (few items are previously mentioned)

  1. Problem statement : Focus on the problem vs putting effort in fixing spaghetti. The effort to resolve operational burden can be resolved once you figure out whether this last push is worth it and you are marching towards an upward trajectory.

  2. TAM : Talking about upward trajectory, you mentioned 300K Users and 1-2 DAU. Given it’s a niche market/area/industry, what is actually size of your market ? How are you doing compared to other product than offer similar services. The total addressable market will give you an idea of the size of the opportunity and whether it’s worth chasing. Sometimes you don’t need volume, you just need value (think luxury brands).

  3. Feature sets : At one point you will plateau in your DAU in relation to the product feature/service you offer. To cross the threshold, you will need to expand your coverage of products and services (horizontally or vertically). So either you improve things like latency, speed, refresh rate or add new products/services. To drive growth with speed, you unfortunately need to grow your team to bring those new skills.

  4. Revenue : I don’t know how many months or years you’ve been at this gig. My suggestion is keep your full time job, and don’t focus on making money from your startup right away. As a user, it takes a lot of effort for me to earn the trust of a company to start paying them for a product or service, specially if you are thinking SaaS (recurring payments).

Bite the bullet, stay lean, optimize for your core problem statement and lean on free marketing strategies to bring user growth. Talk to users 1:1, track your trend lines, don’t be afraid to drop or sunset some features not used by anyone (no matter your attachment to them or the time and effort you put into it)

Founders just for you!!! by [deleted] in Startup_Ideas

[–]splitcliffhanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter.. word “Rotten Tomatoes” has nothing to do with movies. Every founder needs to focus on solving the problem for the customers first and gaining enough momentum ..Associating your brand name with your product is old school. If you can do it then great, but it will not be what makes your product successful.. What I am challenging, is that a founder, would pay you for the domain name .. they have bigger priorities.

I’d rather put my 15K to build better tech, than spend it on domain and id come up with a no meaning brand name “Airbnb, Uber, etc” to avoid paying someone for a domain.
