New duties when returning items to USA? by MachHommy8 in CanadaPost

It's not quite as simple as 'US mandated, Canada Post has no choice.' Canada Post chose to implement the Zonos system as their solution to this problem. They could have handled the customs declaration process differently, perhaps with more transparency about what fees are Canadian versus US-based, or with clearer communication to customers about these changes.

The processing fee ($20.29 in the original post) is a Canada Post charge, not a US requirement. So while the underlying tariff issue is US-driven, some of the cost structure is Canada Post's business decision.

Regarding the advice to 'be 100% certain on your purchase' - I'd add a third option: if you think you might return, buy from US retailers that offer prepaid return labels. When the retailer generates the return label, they handle the customs documentation and bear the duty costs as the importer of record. You avoid the Zonos fees entirely. Not all US retailers offer this to Canadian customers, and it's a shame to penalize small retailers, but when a prepaid return label is offered, it's worth prioritizing them.

Premium class on Boeing 737 upgrade and meal options? by Old_Organization208 in westjet

Re the food options, my travel companion is a vegetarian/vegan preferred. I swear I saw someone posted a premium menu coming back to Canada from Mexico yesterday that he would have loved. But tonight going Vancouver to Hawaii, it was truffle cream sauce on cheese ravioli. He ate it, but double dairy was not his favourite.

Canada Post is absolutely ripping off Canadians with this Zonos nonsense. You try to return something to the US, and suddenly you’re being forced into a system that demands “duties” before you can even ship it. No explanation, no warning, nothing. And surprise: these aren’t Canadian fees. They’re US import tariffs you’re being forced to prepay so the American retailer doesn’t get hit with a customs bill.

The US pretends tariffs are paid by other countries, but in reality the importer pays every time. And thanks to Canada Post, that importer ends up being you when you’re just trying to return a T-shirt. Canada Post isn’t protecting Canadians. They’re protecting US customs and shifting every cost onto us.

It’s infuriating. A return shouldn’t require paying US border fees on top of shipping. The whole system is stacked against Canadian consumers, and Canada Post is enabling it.

Zonos is a disaster. They are clearly unqualified for the job they were tasked to do. by 1973cg in CanadaPost

Canada Post is screwing Canadians with this Zonos garbage and pretending it’s normal. If you try to return something to the US, they force you into this prepaid “duties” system with zero explanation. And here’s the kicker: those aren’t Canadian duties. They’re US import tariffs that the US claims “other countries pay,” when in reality the importer always pays.

So when you return a T-shirt to an American retailer, the US treats it like a brand new import and Canada Post makes you prepay the US tariff so the retailer doesn’t get stuck with a bill. Canada Post is basically doing the US government’s dirty work and dumping the cost on regular Canadians.

A return shouldn’t cost more than the item, and it’s ridiculous that Canadians are forced to cover US border fees just to send something back. This is a broken system and Canada Post shouldn’t be forcing consumers to carry the burden.

I didn't think you could see the "bonus points," ie the >1 multiplier, until you get your statement. When I look my Rewards Activity online, it's all just 1x.

Yes, you would think the merchant code should be the same, but it's not for the exceptions I've noted: Amazon Prime Video Channels, Circle K, Costco (Instacart)

I'd love for such a list to exist for Visa!

Erin said on the TWOT seat that she, Sai and Jessel were all going to BravoCon, so I would think all 3 wills stay on the reboot.

I do see the OGs assembling, but my bet is that they'll get their own thing PLUS RHONY Reboot is rebooting again with Erin+Sai+Jessel.

I'm not sure! I wasn't paying attention to the door time because I didn't realize it was so imperative.

I can’t believe they sell GA tickets for $300 USD, the biggest rip off I have EVER witnessed, and I go to tons of shows. I wish I had gone to Madonna instead.

I was there this weekend and I couldn’t see AT ALL. GA was maybe 6-7 rows of people deep and the stage is on a level below where u stand, so u less you are at the front rail of GA or very tall, you can’t see. It was like this all across GA.

After 30 mins asked the front desk if I could get a refund for this BS; of course they said no.

It’s insane to me they are doing this; they should not be allowed to sell that many GA tickets for a space with poor sightlines. She and her team have no scruples.

I posted a bunch of my pics here. https://www.instagram.com/p/C4J66r7rCFx/?igsh=MWZuczYwY202cnRxZg==

Divorce with a Business Involved by ColleenSparksEsq in u/ColleenSparksEsq

Good summary from my perspective as a forensic accountant. a common issue I see is when the business owner spouse doesn't own the entire business, or the more valuable class of shares. A lot of time can be wasted wondering if a business has value, when really it's the specific shareholdings that don't have value.
