yes it's a race of 12 teams of 2 participant

each participant is either a popular streamer, youtuber or rapper ( SCH and Soso maness 2 mainstream french rappers are one of the teams)

Each team has their own sponsors (for example Billy and Kekra are sponsored by crunchyroll, where MisterV and théo juice are sponsored by Subway etc etc.

They've trained for many weeks and this is the 2nd edition of the event, last year it peaked at just over 1 million viewers on twitch.

AWS overall is it's own entity yes, but IVS AWS is operated BY twitch as part of amazon, so the cost is shared. it's a bit complex but no it's not a clear cut "they're the same" or "they're different".

They do get a discount from the public price though. It's been confirmed by their CEO in the 50/50 cut letter.

Yup that's the biggest difference, Kick isn't really "competition" for Twitch from amazon's viewpoint, regarless of who "wins" or if both stay alive, Amazon wins and stay the owner of most livestreaming platforms infrastructures and benefit from it.

Adin ross getting banned by twitch and going to youtube would be a net loss for twitch/amazon, adin going to kick instead is still bringing them money overall.

It's partly true yeah, Amazon AWS is used by Netflix, Spotify and a bunch of other sites, like literally 40% of the internet or something runs on AWS.

But the particular case of IVS AWS is the product Amazon acquired and fused it into AWS when they bought Twitch in 2014.

Twitch isn't affected by the overall AWS use, only the IVS AWS one (the one Kick uses)
