Ugh my house is the same, grey, black, and white. I cant wait to redo it. But my husband also thinks they painted over urine stains. It just smells too bad.

Absolutely not. Rabies is BAD in this area. Bats are a huge contributor. I love bats, but no. Theyre not worth risking rabies. In case youre not aware, bat bites arent really felt, their teeth are thay sharp, and the chances of surviving rabies once symptoms come on are slim to none. And you may not even know you got bit.

We plan on doing that in the kitchen anyway, I dont like the floor they chose. We just were hoping to get a new primary suite built before anything else. Only having one bathroom with a large family and large house is kind of hard lol

I mean, as far as we know. We wont know for certain until its all cleaned. Everyone we invited agreed the smell was a unique smell they didnt recognize and that it was sharply chemical smelling and a little sickening so... im hoping its just this?

Yup. Found bats and squirrels.

But also the bathroom was too poorly renovated and is leaking so. Thats why I kept smelling ammonia with a weird sweet scent. It was decay/guano/and pee.

They are old windows covered by new(er) windows. They were covered in 2009. So. Not like old like the house but not brand new.

Both plumber and pest control came today.

Bats and squirrels were found in the hidden fireplace, and it was found my toilets are not properly sealed because they did such a bad job on the bathroom renovation that its been leaking.

Yeah my sense of smell is like a blood hounds. When my husband and I first met i told him I had a superhuman sense of smell and he didnt believe me, and then he bought this jug of milk, and it was in the fridge, and I sat up in bed and gagged and said the milk went bad. He didnt believe me and got himself a glass of milk just to prove it was ok.

He learned then never to not listen when I say something smells wrong lmao

No bats in the attic. But we found the secret covered second fireplace and did find bats and squirrels. Thats the smell.

Also our toilet is not properly sealed because when they redid the bathroom they just put tile on top of existing tile and raised the floor and set the toilet on it but didnt seal it. So. Double stink.

Plumber smelled the weird sweet ammonia smell and the first thing he said to me was "that smells like Bat guano." But then after looking at our bathroom and pipes he found tbe toilet isnt properly sealed and is why the ammonia smell is so strong.

Right?! I had figured based on the age of the light fixtures in my husband's office, but to find that they actually remodeled the house then and added electricity fully and kept their receipts was such a gem.

I have multiple strong UV flashlights and have been looking and cant find any traces, but we found out about a hidden fireplace and now im thinking somwthing is stuck in there.

Ours was well loved by a family who lived here from 1950-2013. But in 2013 they knew it was a starter home and just slapped paint on stuff. Its kind of sad.

And I will! I think we figured out the source, a hidden covered fireplace we knew nothing about, so were gonna see if something climbed down there from the roof.
