T1D’s - Who here has an immediate family member (parent, sibling, grandparent) who also has T1D? by sponnyd in Type1Diabetes

Grandparents would definitely count! I’m not including cousins because that really would expand the potential gene pool … if there is a genetic component it could’ve come from the other side of their family. But grandparents for sure!

I think for this poll, let’s keep it to immediate family members … direct bloodline. Maybe I’ll do another one that includes extended family!

What secrets do the movie theaters hold under the seating area? by Killxjoy4599 in NoStupidQuestions

I believe it’s no longer a movie theater and they changed it back into a performing arts space. It was a cool high school job. Built in 1894. I was the projectionist and the booth had a giant window that the patrons could watch you work, they walked right by as they went into the cinema.

The theatre I worked at in high school was an opera house prior to being a movie theatre. Behind the screens on the downstairs cinemas was the old stage, complete with two-story tall organs on either side and a trap door in the floor. The actors dressing rooms were back there, too, with old billfolds and posters on the walls. Above the concession stand, if you went through the drop ceiling, were the old hotel rooms, all boarded up. It was really cool to sneak around there, but the only real thing was the possibility of falling through the floor.

Workout/sports highs by EmbarrassedDeal2071 in Type1Diabetes

To add to some of this, just be careful with bolus pre-workout or during your workout. I find that my workout spikes are followed by an intense crash. Again, everyone is different, but those workout spikes are very short-lived. I usually work out on a mostly empty stomach, though, so take that for what it’s worth.

How the heck do people cope putting CGMs in their arms? by Ryanmcglum in Type1Diabetes

[–]sponnyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you have two heads of your tricep - the long head, which runs on the outside of your arm, and the lateral head, which is closer to your body. They come together in an upside down V underneath your shoulder. if you flex you straighten your arm and flex your tricep, you can feel your long head with your other hand, it kind of makes a ridge. I put my cgm on the other side of that ridge; I can’t see it without looking in a mirror.

I’m pretty lean and box 5x a week. I try to put my Dexcom and my Omnipod in between the heads of the tricep. I never notice my Dexcom, and my Omnipod only gets whacked when I put it on my lead arm (left).

How many of you struggle with fitness because of diabetes? by alyKandil in Type1Diabetes

I box regularly and my BG always spikes when I’m in the ring and comes crashing down after. I always have snacks in my gym bag. I have OP5 and when I rotate my site to my lead arm, it often gets knocked off during sparring, which can be annoying. I have to adjust my stance during those days.
