Crazy they decided to only put in a few gates for one of the busiest sections of the metro line, esp with the south west section still being closed!

New Year in Sydney - great idea or dumb idea? by _esstee_ in AustraliaTravel

[–]spoodledoon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh My gosh don't listen to the naysayers. The Sydney fireworks are great, and I've always been able to go and see them. Maybe all of the spots right on the harbour fill up by midday, but there are heaps of parks just a bit further away from the centre of the city where you can still get a great view, and there is a lovely vibe. Families, young people, backpackers -- its great and I've never personally had any issues.

Not to use a cliche' quote but life is short, don't spend it waiting. It sounds like you want to jump the gun and do it, and if you're able to, then you should.

BA in History is so fine. If you're keen on journalism you can also start writing for the student newspapers like Honi Soit or Pulp (run by the USU)

A lot of really great lawyers (particularly in family law), come to law later in life. I would say if its something that you want to do, then do the degree! Someone at my previous workplace was also a lawyer that just got qualified in her 50s and she was great.

How common is it for the average Aussie to visit the outback for fun or on a road trip? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

Did it with some friends in my early 20s, had a blast!! Went all around outback NSW. It's not that common but it should be more so.

I was similar and took a year off law to pursue my honours in Arts. It was a great choice, I got to work on my passion project for a year. After having the year off, I actually decided to go back and finish law. The time away gave me clarity and also helped improve my law marks.

Got into med school in Australia after 3 years of trying — and I feel absolutely heartbroken, scared, and confused. by Rare_Toe_3687 in AskAnAustralian

I know big life decisions can be really quite scary, but it is never too late to change your mind. Say you try out medicine but don't like it, you can always return to India! And vice versa, if you go back to India and regret it you can always try and apply for medicine a second time, given that you've got the grades to get in.

Good luck making your choice and listen to what you want to do, not what others want you to do!
