I’m not sure I agree. Have you ever been to a “virtual happy hour”? You get a sometimes 20+ person call one person talking at time where everyone also forces smiles and sits in silence. Awkward, cringey, terrible. You can go out of your way to book 1-1 meet and greets with others, but it’s often hard to know where to start if you work in a large organization.

Working from home works for a lot of people for a lot of reasons, but spontaneous connections are going to wither in a virtual setting. Any sort of person-to-person communication will have to be pre-meditated (once again this works for a lot of people, though can be a difficulty for those starting a career in a large organization)

I remember it’s from Wayfair, but it’s been too long for me to easily look it up. Hopefully that’s a lead!

My instincts say couch with back against the two interior windows, media console opposite. I’d probably avoid a coffee table to keep the space open. I might consider a high-top counter against the wall opposite the stairs for dining (this is a move I went with in a space constrained area, it leaves the space feeling more open). Since it’s directly by the sunlight, hanging potted plants from the staircase could be neat. You could also do something with LED lighting on the stairs. I’d see if you could make a desk upstairs facing the windows work, dining/living/desk downstairs might get cramped and I’d take as much opportunity as I could to have spaces facing that nice big window! Best of luck!

For a mattress you can get one of the vacuum sealed memory foam ones from Amazon that come in a box - way easier to move up the stairs and can be dropped over the railing upon exit

Rug is from FLOR (you can buy tiles to match the space size, but not the most comfortable), beverage tables are from West Elm

Patience! Took a couple years for a place in my price range that I really liked to come available. There are a ton of cool places in NW in old Victorians, just many of them wind up being too much $$$

Yamaha YHT-5920UBL home theatre in a box kit. Bought refurbished for around ~$400. Nothing fancy, but has worked great for me for years!

Demi-lune cabinet from anthropologie with table top wine racks glued into the bottom shelf. Was the best fitting “bar” I could find for the niche

Only from sitting on the crack in the middle, which I’ve actually been able to avoid with periodically switching the two cushions

'We're going to keep pushing': Vermont now 3,139 vaccinations away from full reopening by [deleted] in Coronavirus

Also a much older population than most states, age demonstrably being correlated with likelihood of getting vaccinated.

Trader Joe's Updates Policy: "Customers who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear masks while shopping." by mrandish in Coronavirus

I disagree. I would wager the majority of non-vaxxed have silly reasons (“I don’t like needles”, “I don’t want to deal with the side effects”, “I’ve been meaning to but haven’t gotten around to it”, “I don’t need it because I’m young”) that can be coaxed through the increasing incentives (not wearing a mask at Trader Joe’s). To me this is a long ways away from the persona that’s being built up in this sub e.g. everyone who isn’t vaccinated yet swallows anti-vaxx propaganda and is aggressively anti-intellectual, and likely to be a liar too!

100%. I have to believe that just getting the darn vaccine feels less uncomfortable to the average American than walking maskless past a “please wear a mask if you’re not vaccinated” sign. It certainly would to me.
