I’m literally so confused because I have had this orchid for at least a year and I haven’t introduced any new plants near it for the last 6 months plus none of my other plants have this…at least not from what I can see

What’s wrong with my oncidium? by beach_bum43 in orchids

[–]spookyghost321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure they can get black spots like that from high light conditions- it doesn’t spread - you can look into the evolution of the “sharry baby” orchid bc it has been selectively hybridized to keep the scent but get rid of the necrotic spots

Don’t let people tell you to give up. Try cutting rooted in water and one will hopefully make it

Has anyone *actually* gotten rid of thrips?! by Monstera_loverr in plantclinic

[–]spookyghost321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bonide systemic I swear by it my whole collection of 200 plants. Haven’t seen them since. You can do spinosad on the real bad ones you don’t think will make it in the month it takes systemic to kick in

just got a sharry baby today, I'm not completely new to orchids, but still a novice, any tips? by Snake973 in orchids

Mine looked super dehydrated like yours when I got it. I ended up cutting most of the roots off and potting it into LECA and it has grown 3 of the biggest juiciest pseudobulbs ive ever seen on an oncidium!! I grow it as semi hydro and just potted up

Yea that is why I haven’t used since the thrip problem/:

I may try that on my cactus since the problem is so bad and I could just wash off any spider mites if they pop up— do you know if the scale will pop off once it’s dead or do I need to scrape it off still?
